7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Wow, this is amazing to see! I spent a long time looking for my 7 with ACC. How hard was the retrofit? Cost?

+100. Please could you explain the wiring. Been mulling over doing this retrofit, but there is very little info available.

I just follow instruction for this retrofit. Wiring-2 wires to CAN bus-connector in FR Wheel arch, 1 wire to the Fuse box in glove compartment, 1 wire to CAS and ground
Take me about 4.5 hour and cost me $250, because i get ACC for free

nice job man shows dedication , however it costs $$$ for the acc unit, im guessing you found a scarp 7 and ripped it apart and took the parts you needed ... LOL

Question, did you car have a open grey black connector on the left (from the front), behind the bumper and below the lights? It is the one in the green block on the photo. I think my car is pre-wired for ACC.

inspi, i am planning for a retrofit of ACC at the same time, what a coincidence i am after ACC 1 tough. Because ACC2 is more complicated with brake sensors and other stuff. Your is ACC1 right? without brake version

Pls can you specify problems with ACC2 retrofit ?? I read technical instructions which inspi posted...and it looks there are some modifications inside radar....but other stuff is same

You need SRRs and a dsc unit with acc , lots of wiring, maybe front bumper support for SRRs, too many things to list, possible but not worth i think. I will stick to original and retrofit ACC1 for my car

Inspi, just to clarify a few points, i see that you didnt change your DSC unit, so your car is braking when the distance gets closer?? I know that DSC unit should be changed and brake sensors should be added to the axles for braking functions. I am searching for parts for retrofit, and if so i may consider adding ACC2 as you do. Thanks in advance

My car is pre-wired. All i need is the front end wiring, sensor and stalk. The wiring that goes into the car is already in place.

I did it with ISTA/P. Just add ACC retrofit. Otherwise You have to add code for ACC(I thunk 541 and remove 540) to FA/VO and then code ECUs

Thank you Inspi, I added 541 and FA/VA and coded. Now there is no ACC Failure error. But the car is in the shop without bumper now so when the car is standstill there is no vehicle sign or road sign in the cluster. Is that normal as it appear when you activate ACC on the road?

The system is not made to operate at those speeds. At high speed the computer may not have sufficient calculating capacity causing the car to not react to changes in time and ultimately leading to an accident.

You have ACC working so why not leave well enough alone.
