Anyone do basic coding with the Carly App?

Hello and thanks,

I am interested in some basic coding (door chimes, legal disclaimers, etc) but would like to own the actual product for future use.

I have been reading about the Carly app and dongle but have not seen much in the F15 forums with regards to it, customer satisfaction, etc..

Does anyone have experience with this product and do you think it is worth the time and $$'s?

On a side note:
I am appreciative of our forum sponsors and have supported them on different occasions as recent as this month with a seamless nav map upgrade. I have reviewed our sponsors coding service offer but think it might be overkill for what I want and I am due for a service in a few months which could override any changes I make if things are updated.

Thank you

Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I never heard about this, and really eager TOFT.
Edit: I just placed an order for an iOS adapter. I will test it and will post it here.

More and more features are added with updates. But, you can do a whole lot more right away with E-sys.

If you two don't mind, give us some feedback and let us know what you think about the app after you've used it. Cost, ease of use, effectiveness, and so forth. Does iit work on Mac, Windoze, Linux? Stuff like that.

Thanks!

Adapter came today. Adapter plugs in to OBD port, and creates wifi network. I use iPhone, so go to settings, choose Carly wifi, connect to it, fire up the Carly App ( I had to purchase pro version) and within few sec one gets access to basic coding. Basic today the least. What is good about the app is the fact that it is all in English, which makes it easy to understand descriptions, but functionality is limited for F15.

Update

Artem123 - do you have any update to this? How's it working out? What have you coded?

Thanks,
Steve

I think they are still adding some stuff for F15.
On E70 you can code bunch of stuff (closing trunk from inside just for example), lights, turn signals, locking features etc.
You can fallow all parameters, from coolant temperature to outside air pressure, pressure in turbo, DPF regen. intervals etc.
I would say, all that is possible to do on F15 too.
Here is where it gets tricky.
Cary wants additional money for battery registration feature, and I think for legal disclaimer. However, I am not sure you can do legal disclaimer at all.
Where Carly comes really handy is that it will read CEL codes and hidden codes, clear them too.

I have played with this for enough time. Ability to code F15 is outlined on their site. Some things cannot be coded ( aka idrive). However, first time I dropped my X15 to service, and totally feeling safe if dealer updates software, as I know basic stuff i will code in less then few min afterward.

They are still adding stuff to F15. I get updates like every week and it is mostly adding F series coding capabilities.

I guess i have to rain on my own parade. I dropped the car for the service where entire steering mechanism had to be replaced ( $5300.00 job). Naturally, car had to be programmed and all coding was wiped. Jolly me plugged the carly adapter thinking i will be all cool in a few min... Bull crap. All i could do was folding/unfolding mirrors from remote, and continuing window rolling down/up after door is opened. No trunk, no idrive, nothing else.

Do you know which Trunk module you have (older or newer model)?
How about are you on ID4 or ID5?

it used to be coded just fine with Esys. I am still scared to do coding with Esys. I guess at some time i need to take a plunge and try. Carly on F15 is VERY LIMITED.

There are plenty of guides available for E-sys and those willing to give getting started in person and remote lessons.

I am not sure where you are located and whether anyone is local, but I could do remotely as well.

Waking up for update

What is new on the battery registration front? I was all set to get a Foxwell NT 510 but then read it's not for F series yet. Heard Carly has gone to annual subscription, seems unnecessary $ grab.

What other options are out there? Bimmercode looks good but no battery reg. TIA.

I bought the iCarly about 6 months ago and love it. Changed the following:
-Chime sound
-Mirrors fold in when locking
-Rear tailgate will no close with key fob
-All windows close or open when the button is held down or remote
-Changed welcome screen graphics on head unit
-speed is shown digitally on the dash now, between the tach and speedo

Didn't want to mess with much more than that for now.

I thought battery registration requires buying the sister app BimmerLink...which can be done inside the BimmerCode app? The BimmerLink app gives you battery registration & battery coding capabilities ...as well as ability to retrieve other diagnostic codes and the ability to reset.

Q - sounds interesting. Can you explain more about how BimmerLink and BimmerCode work together? I don't see BimmerLink in the Google app store, just BCode.

Edgy...I don't have Bimmerlink yet...but when you purchase the full app version of Bimmercode...when you're connected...a link appears at the bottom of the screen to purchase the app.

Here's a link to a video by Thic F30...he has a lot of instructional BimmerCode videos on youtube...and in this linked video...he discusses the BimmerLink app:

Hmmm, interesting...you're right. If I try to find Bimmerlink using my Samsung Galaxy Note & the Google Play Store...I get no hits for Bimmerlink...but there is an app for Bimmercode.

But if I go to my iPad and go to the Apple Store...there is a BimmerLink App. Why?

EDIT: Bimmerlink is for IOS only.
