I am thinking about getting a used X3 what motor should I look for. I am looking at a 2013 with a 4-twin turbo and a 3.0- 6 cyl 2011

For the slightly bigger X3, I wouldn't even look at the 28i, personally. The 35i would be my only option. YMMV.

The difference in MPG is not all that great, so the 35i would be a great find -- if you can even find one. The X3 28i is still a nice ride and for many, has more than enough acceleration and power (240 vs. 300 HP). We have an X3 and an X1, both xDrive 28i models, BTW. The X3 is definitely more refined and comfortable.
