E36 318is with E46 M3 front brakes - caliper mount rework?

Hi folks,

I tried using the search but since I am no native speaker it was difficult for me to pick the appropriate keywords I suppose.

I am about to get me an E36 318is as a track car. That is why I am considering possible brake upgrades.
Also, I still got a full E46 M3 brake kit in my basement, with calipers, hoses, discs and caliper mounts.
The idea is to get these on the E36 once I got it.

I saw reworked E46 CSL caliper mounts at Turner Motorsports website which should mount the E46 M3 calipers with CSL discs on a non-M E36.

Since I do not want to use CSL rotors since I do not have them and do not want to restrict my car to 18" wheels or bigger, I would like to go with the normal E46 M3 discs.

Does anyone know what areas of the original "Type 507" E46 M3 caliper mounts need rework and how much rework they need (in mm)?

Is there a thread or any other source of info on this?

Thank you so much for your support!

Regards

Oliver aka Tomcat0815

I'm sorry you haven't gotten an answer to your question yet, but I think it's because we don't know! At least those who know haven't seen your posting.

No problem, I am in no hurry since I didn't even buy an E36 yet.

I got these E46 M3 brakes lying in the shelf, so I am just gonna try how they fit once I got the car.
I read elsewhere that a spacer under the brake disc of about 5 mm thickness is all that's needed.

I thought I'd figure out the necessary thickness using washers under the brake disc and then get someone machine a spacer in the right dimensions.

If that works out, I'll post the results here!
