“I do not want to hear that crap anymore.”, G20 mimics E39! :D

I can't wait to test drive the G20!

Per my prediction, BMW is going all out to roll back to E39's mix of comfort and competence.

Quotes from BMW Development Chief Klaus Fröhlich

“First thing and this is for me the most important thing; you can drive fast and completely relaxed. You don’t feel how fast you are.

“Second thing and this thing is a big achievement; this car is much more valuable, it has much better materials and it is solid like a rock.

From the comfort it is more like a 5 Series, because this cluster architecture is so, so stiff; for example 50 per cent stiffness increase between front axle and bulkhead, 30 per cent overall stiffness [increase].”

“You do not only feel it in driving, you feel it in ride comfort.”

Spirits of E46 can be seen in 2-series these days.

3-series is now a mini-5, G20 size will match E39 from 20 years ago.

Much like how Civics these days are as big as Accords from previous years. Honda had to release the Fit just to stay in the smaller car market.

Longer, lower, wider, has been the thing as long as there has been cars. My 135is is pretty close in size to my old 2004 ZHP. The 440 is an easy 5 series from the same time.

I’ve always called the 4 series the baby 6

On a recent test drive, I was impressed with the 330i. It was a standard-suspension car, and I drove it right after an F30 M-Sport manual with Track Handling. Way ahead of the prior gen in road feel and chassis design. Definitely a major step up in quality. But having lived with an E39 530i, I'm not sure there is much similarity in driving characteristics.
