Airbag light on, seatbelt light off

Hello all, recently my airbag light came on, 1995 M3, just out of nowhere. Just got in one day, started car, and the light came on. Also, it blinks once as I start the car. Also, and I just noticed this, when Iím driving and I unbuckle the seatbelt, the seatbelt light does not come on. The car thinks Iím still wearing the belt. Are these two problems related? Anyone know what the problem could be?
Also, this car is OBDI so are there any code readers that can diagnose this?

It sounds to me like the seat belt circuit is compromised. Unbolt the seat, but DON'T REMOVE IT YET. After the seat is ready to come out THEN disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. You can then take the connections loose under the seat and check them for corrosion or frayed wires. Don't reconnect the battery until the seat connections are restored or you'll get an SRS warning that cannot be reset with normal scanners.

Some Bosch scanners work on OBDI with the correct cable.
