G30 (2017 - Current)
The next generation 5 Series, chassis code G30, arrives at dealers in February 2017. Looking like a scaled down 7 Series and riding on the CLAR platform, the new 5 Series will have a focus on lightweight and sporty performance. Engines options will come from BMW's new B family for the 530 and 540 and a turbocharged V8 for the M550i. Read more about the 2017 5 Series

Tire Pressure Monitor

TPM tells me the pressure should be 36 front/40 rear but door sill says 32/38? Which do I use. Iím running stock size tires on M-Sport, only change being I moved from run-flats to non-RF.

You've got some flexibility in the psi range.

I've always preferred a bit firmer settings.

Pick the ride setting you like best.

The TPMS modifies "recommended" pressures based on ambient temperatures. My baseline setting is the 32/41 per the placard for my 19" all seasons (actually I do 33 for the fronts). As long as that's where they are cold, I don't worry too much about what TPMS "says" they should be, versus the actual TPMS readings.

Be sure your settings know which tires you have. It is configurable.

I inflate my tires to one pound higher than recommended...33 and 39.When I check the display on setting out in the AM the recommended shows as one or two pounds higher than what's on the door but the actual always equals the recommended.
