I have been having issues with my M54 in the X5 for a few months now. The car sits for long periods of time. If it is driven everyday it does not exhibit this problem. It only happens with the first start after sitting for several days.

The engine coughs and sputters for about 2 seconds after start, then high idles for a few seconds and after that it is fine. Think it might be an injector leaking into the manifold causing a rich start condition, or it could be too lean. How do you pinpoint which cylinder is the problem. It isn't throwing any codes off.

Fuel Injector gurus...

My 2006 X5 M54 engine with 122K miles has the same Violet Color Injectors.
So far so good, zero leaks.
Car is always garaged and ambient temp here only gets down to -20C once or twice a winter.
This city is not as cold as Minnesota or Calgary Canada.

So...I just leave these injectors alone? Any recall?
