G30 (2017 - Current)
The next generation 5 Series, chassis code G30, arrives at dealers in February 2017. Looking like a scaled down 7 Series and riding on the CLAR platform, the new 5 Series will have a focus on lightweight and sporty performance. Engines options will come from BMW's new B family for the 530 and 540 and a turbocharged V8 for the M550i. Read more about the 2017 5 Series

Mine is currently the opposite, less than 50Km per day so looking to drive a lot on EV. Sure I make some highway trips but someone will always want to go to the bathroom before the tank runs dry.

I am waiting for the 530d , 6 cylinder ( not 4 ) 256PS and 457ft-lb torque 0-60 5.4sec 44.3mpg city 57.3mpg highway 52.2mpg combine. 17.5 gallon tank x 57.3(highway) got incredible 1000 miles a tank of gas.
it will be a long wait, since the US 5 series diesel will be 540d. When it comes to Plug in hybrids, there are many reasons to get them, long distance cruiser isn't one of them.

BMW PHEVs can do long-distance cruising just fine, because they enjoy infinite range, as long as you refill the gas tank. I drove ~250 miles each way this week, and it was delightful. Long-distance cruising is just not their sweet spot, (as compared with, say, diesels). But they can drive infinitely with or without electric charging, if desired, especially in what I've called diesel equivalent mode mode (DEM):

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=981630

According to BMW, my X5 40e can drive coast-to-coast, even while towing as much as a diesel X5 (about 6,000lbs). That's long-distance cruising.

There is SOOO much tech in here to get used to and get the settings all set up, but once they are you never have to fiddle ever again!

Great and looks amazing! What did you do for licence plates? Could you get green or not? I see it's still not listed on the EV rebates online.

Thanks guys! I love it, just hoping the weather get's sunny so I can give it a full detail!

So far it drives exceptionally, I got the DDC so it just glides over the roads, bumps, and potholes with 20's
My fuel economy is sitting just over 8L/100KM, but I have really been pushing it and letting a few friends test it as well :P However when I want I was able to get under 2L/100KM!!

Yeah the dealer was kinda useless when it came to the PHEV discounts and such. I was told once it is online we can go in to Service Ontario and get the green plates! Also need to apply for the rebate, guaranteed $8500!

Enjoy. Mine has been in the VPC in Brunswick Georgia now for over 3 weeks and no one knows why. I am very concerned that it must have some serious damage.

If I finance with Owners Choice (which is similar to a lease but is actually owning only offered in Georgia, Tx and Ill. because of sales tax) the Morgan Stanley incentive jumps to $2,500 and the federal credit is likely to be approximately $4,300 (which I would have to file and get back on tax return - which is OK). With Owners' choice the incentives jump to $8,800 after best negotiated deal. that is effectively 16,000 off msrp. With doc fee title and sales tax of $3371, my out the door is 51582 - sign and drive with 10K miles per year is 579. I am not sure exactly how or why they gave me such a large discount, but I did not wait to find out so I immediately signed and gave them a credit card deposit. I would not be surprised if they back off, but no indication yet.
So let me understand this again. You got a $7K+ discount before any of the federal tax credits etc? WOW!

I have not purchased a new Bimmer for a while. Is this the going rate for the G30s?

Baryarea - that is n ot the going rate. I would have expected about a 4-5000 discount. I am not sure how they did it, but I did not ask any questions. We will see if they honor it.

The order for my Bluestone M-Sport 530e went in on June 1. I found out today that it is already in production with an expected completion date of June 13th! Loving that quick turnaround.

How many miles are people getting on a full charge? I'm getting only 20 or so.

Hi everyone,

From Portugal. Just ordered mine on 23/05/2017. First production was due to March 2018 ( My god !!! ), second update was end of November this year, and last update was on the first two weeks of September ( thank god ! ).
I got a special fleet discount and the car droped from a 72.300,00 price to a 63.400,00 final price. Here in Portugal i can have the VAT refunded because its a Plug-in hybrid. So, for me, the final price is about 51.544,00 ( wich is about 57.240,00 usd ).
I've choose the Pack M Performance in a Black carbon color, the Pack Inovation ( HUD, Professional GPS, Park Assistant and the big car key with the display, the Conectivity pack with wi-fi spot and wireless charging, and finally the interior led lights.

I've driven the 330E and the G30 520D. Expectations are on the top !! I have at the momento na F10 520D, from the year 2013.

Best regards to all.

Glad it got moved up! Mine arrived at the dealer yesterday (ordered March 16th, hopefully delivery this week).

Portugal is an amazing place, still have yet to be in the Northern parts (Porto, etc). Lisbon, Peniche, Ftima, Tomar, Estremoz, Evora so beautiful.

thought I'd poke my head out and say hi.

Had my car now for about 2 weeks, had to wait for nearly 1.5 months for it, ordered it back in the end of April.

Good to see some Ontario people here.

Currently getting 6.7-6.9L/100km.

A couple of things with the car I've noticed, first is that the advertised 29miles on electric only is impossible. I've tried driving pure city and everything from eco-pro with the most efficient settings I can enable, as well as running with no a/c and no radio and starting off extremely slowly and using regen to slow. Best I can get is 30km, where are these 20km extra coming from that they advertise I wonder haha?

Second would be that the adaptive LED headlights do not work as they are advertised and supposed to, they simply follow the road and the auto highs just turn them on and off. Bought the package that included them as I wanted the benefits that they show. Have it booked in to the dealer to check as even they don't know why.

Otherwise it's awesome, love the car! rides great, handles well and love the Mediterranean blue with the shadowline and full M sport goodies!
