7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

DVD player zone X to multi zone

Good morning all board members,
I m an european expat in Thailand and I bought a very nice 730 Li full options with DVD player and RSE. Problem is in SE Asia the dvd player plays only zone 3 dvd and in Europe we have zone 2. So I cannot play my DVDs. Is there a way to flash the firmware of the DVD player to make it multizone?Where can I find the flash?
Thanks for the help
Regards
Philippe

You don't need to flash. You can code it with ncs expert

Note that it can only be changed a few times! according to some documents (like 3 times or something)

Edit: i just saw that you wanted multi zone and that is not possible from my understanding. You can only have one zone at a time unfortunately :/

Okay there is a slim chance that if you add a custom parameter in ncs dummy with data 00 it will set the player to region free.
But I can not guarantee that it will work. It might even brick the player, most likely it won't brick it but don't blame me if it does.
Like this.

And then just code the module.

Pleas tell us how it goes if you try.

Thanks for the info....
As my 730 Li is my first BMW I will have to dig into programming. I did the same with my former Audi A6... I guess I will have to look after ODB plugs. Do you know btw if they have all the same quality where is the best place to buy one?
Regards
Phil

From what I've heard they are not all the same. I however was probably lucky then that my first one works flawlessly that I bought of Aliexpress. With software downloaded from internet. "Mike's easy bmw tool" one klick install on my 32bit windows xp laptop.

There are plenty of threads on what software and cables work the best for what purpose. So see if you can find one of them.
