looking at a 328d touring

Hi folks. Car is a 2014 Xdrive with 32k miles. Fully loaded (all M goodies). Looks new in pictures. Asking price around 28K us. Fair price?

Will look at it this week. I will concede I know nothing about BMW, but I saw some posts about the transfer case. Factory warranty is up in august.
Are there any glaring potential issues I should look for in this car?

thanks in advance

What does Fully loaded with all M Goodies mean, post the last 7 Vin# and we can see how fully loaded it is.

That is very helpful. Thanks Jim. Like I said I am clueless about these cars and it certainly wouldn't be unheard of for a salesman to not know his elbow from his &*$ or play up a car.

488 Lumbar is missing. Are the base seats still comfy? I'm talking for someone with a bad back.

Backup camera will be missed sorely.

The M-Brakes. Is it possible to go down to an 18 or 17" rim for winters?

If it has the M sport package, it comes with sport seats which I seem to recall have the lumbar adjustment.
I used to have an 2014 M sport touring and I kinda miss it especially the great mileage on road trips.

BMW 18" wheels will clear the M-Sport brakes. M-Sport package means you have the sport seats, no base seats.

Sport seats don't have the lumbar adjustment by default.

Too bad the car doesn't have HUD either.

Now see you made look in my files and you're right. Lumbar is part of Premium pak.

I would say for a fully loaded Sportwagon, 28K seems reasonable.

The M-Brakes. Is it possible to go down to an 18 or 17" rim for winters?[/QUOTE]

I have a 2014 328d SportWagon with the M Sport Package and M Sport Brakes. Because of the M Sport Brakes it came equipped with Staggered Wheel Setup not Square Setup. This might complicate your winter tire/wheel selection. (Unless the Canada Spec car is different.)

By the way, have 39,000 miles and just coming up on 4 years. Love The Car!!! Am getting the 7 year 70,000 mile Extended Warranty and plan to keep it another three years. Hope then to do another ED and pick up a G30 540ix or maybe a 540dx. In regard to your question about the Transfer Case, had mine replaced under warranty 3 months ago. Got to drive a new 540ix as a loaner for five days, sweet car, that's what convinced me to get one next. Also the word is that the SportWagon is going away with the next generation of the 3 series. (At least in the States.)

Good luck with the car, you will really enjoy it.

I have 2016 wagon with M Sport and staggered setup. For winter I use 18" square, no problem, handles great as well.

I've seen posts about concerns with the staggered wheel setup perhaps being the cause of the TC failures. Comments too about a plastic gear in the case that wears out. Most everyone that changes the fluid says it came out dirty. It makes me wonder if the 335d TC has a metal version of this gear that could be swapped. I also read from a few sources that there is a sensor that can be unplugged and the car would revert to RWD- is there any reason a person couldn't perform this trick for the dry road season? Plug it back in for winter.
I guess bottom line is extending the warranty is a great idea.
Still, I see 3 series xdrive cars EVERYWHERE when I'm out and about. They definitely outnumber the rwd cars. How bad can the problem be?

Just an FYI, the staggered wheel is because of the M Sport Package, not the brakes.

I respectfully beg to differ. When I was building my car, it didn't go to staggered wheels until I added M Sport Brakes. I could be wrong, it happened once, (first marriage).

The good things are it has MSport and the DHP (dynamic handling package). These are very desirable options.

My staggered wheel came with M sport. I don't even know if I have M Sport Brakes (I believe I don't). For sure I didn't order them.
Canadian spec., I guess...

Hey Captian, I'm 99.9% sure it is because of the M Sport package and not the brakes. Check the order guide.

Captain is right (for the 2014MY).

With just the M-Sport package, you could've been optioned with square (2PP) or staggered wheels (2PE), but adding the M-Sport brakes requires ordering the staggered wheels (2PE) and M-Sport package (ZMM).

Interestingly, the 2PF 19" light alloy wheels on OP's build isn't even in the order/pricing guide for the 2014 F31. It was an upgrade for the M-Sport package on the 335 and AH3. I wonder how this car was spec'd like that from the factory.

Thanks for the support. My 78 year old memory recalls exactly that scenario.

I wouldn't pay over 25k for that. I doubt it sells any time soon. Wait on it then offer low. If it does sell-there is nothing special about it. A similar car will surface soon enough.

looking at a 328d touring

If the car is missing all those options itís not nearly optioned as anything also with 32k miles itís worth around 22k tops unless your buying a Bmw CPO.

I bought a CPO 2014 328xd around 11/30/17 with 37,000 miles.

I paid 24,000 + tax. It is a great car. The only negative is the nav system leaves a lot to be

desired. The ac/heat is 100% compared to the E46 2003 I replaced with this car.

Sticker was $47,000 +.

My mileage (mixed) is 34 mpg. Highway is 40+ mpg.

In of spite all the negatives you may read, I think these cars are awesome.
