Footwell Module Warranty Extension

A letter came recently extending the warranty of the Footwell Module for my 2014 s-Drive X1. The warranty is for 10 years or 156,000 miles.

I did not know what this is and looked it up:
The footwell module (FRM) is an electrical nodal point in the footwell on the drivers side. The footwell module picks up the signals from the doors and controls the lighting. The footwell module also controls the adaptive headlights. The footwell module is also the interface to the dashboard.

The following components deliver signals for the footwell module:

Height sensors
Reversing light switch
Brake light switch
Hazard warning flasher switch
Light switch
Driverís door switch block
Door contacts in front doors
Driverís door lock

I've not seen any issues on the forums with this but am curious if others have gotten this letter.

Yes, and FRM issues are well known to some, to me.

This evidently includes FRM3 as - "Dealing with short circuits in the footwell module, FRM, 2nd generation.

Note: Dealing with short circuits in the footwell module depends on the production date of the footwell module. Differences result for the production date 09/2007 and 09/2009."
