Transmission Fluid fill plug tool

to those that have completed the tranny fluid change did it required a special tool to open the fill plug?

the service manual said a special tool is needed

were you able to use a ratchet there?

No special tool required. Socket wrench fit fine for the Trans fill plug.
I think it's a hex bit, but honestly can't remember.

This is probably the worst fluid change of all the power train parts.
The fill requires the engine running.
