335d Hood HOT for Hours

I picked up my new Black Sapphire 2011 335d today. Drove straight home from dealership, about 4:30 in the afternoon. The edges of the hood (beyond insulation pad) were still really hot nearly five hours later. It is hot here in Texas, but the car is parked in a garage out of the sun---this seems like a long time for heat not to have dissipated?

Congrats on your 'd! My first thought is it could be a DPF regeneration, but that's a bit surprising given how new it is. How many miles are on the car? I take it your new car is much warmer than your previous ones?
You have an E90 (ending production this current model year), this subforum is for the new model of the 3 series coming in 2012. There is also a diesel sub-forum that may bring more responses.

Thanks for your response. Realized I had this in the wrong forum right after posting and reposted in the 2006-current forum. Will look for the diesel forum. My previous two diesels were a VW and a Mercedes and yes, neither seemed to run nearly as hot (but also much less engine in those). 335d has 36 total miles on it.
