F30 320D for the USA

I visited a local dealer and they said the F30 320D (4 cylinder) is coming to the States.
Don't they have this model already in Europe?
What's the big deal in bringing it to Americas???

The have E9x 320d in Europe and will get the F3x 320d. It would be great if they brought the smaller diesel engines to the US. I think with rising CAFE standards they don't have a lot of alternatives but to bring more diesels to the US.

This would be a great addition to the diesel options availble to us over here. The big deal is that any vehicle that they bring over here needs to go through EPA testing and this is a significant investment that they won't do unless they think the market will support the product.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything more substantial than a local dealer's words.

yeah from what I Have read they are sort of removing the 335d as the diesel powerhouse and plan to sit the 540d at the top of the diesel power bar. the 3 series would get the less powerful 320d.....

Does that mean we'll get manual transmissions?
