7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Hi,

In the technical training PDF, I saw this :

'The SVS will initially be available in three languages: German, U.S. English and U.K. English.
Other languages may follow in subsequent years. There are currently hardware differences
between language versions.'

I don't know how to do it, but the file 12_E65 Speech Processing System may help you use the svs

I was able to code french langage using WinKFP with SG-DATEN because it contains official firmware for ECU then it's hard coded but you can change the firmware (a little complicated) you can read the last pages of https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...=600318&page=9 and you will have some informations to do it (same actions than for a Bluetooth TCU or a mmi upgrade)

Just for reference as I also thought about changing it until I found out how cheap they are used.

This is the inside of the German version from 2006

I was able to program french language in my 2004 svs voice module but it doesn't work with upgraded tcu , mmi and ask modules (after 2005) then I will attempt to program a 2007 module bought on ebay to see if it works.

Well I just bought a UK version for 18.77 Euro including shipping so I won't bother with my German version.

Or maybe I'll try to flash it when I get my new one just because I won't have any use for it so it won't matter if it breaks. I will make sure to open up my uk one so we can compare the hardware as well.

I can now confirm that the UK and The German versions have exactly the same hardware. That however doesn't mean automatically that one language can be flashed on the other. There could be some checksums in the software preventing it still. Just like that the e90 and e65 ACC2 sensors share the same hardware but still cannot have the software changed to the other...

This is the UK version

Angry

I had a SVS HW09 UK flashed in French which was perfectly working before TCU and MMI and ASK upgrade.

I received a 01/2008 HWOC module ans I flashed it in French too but same problem no sound.

I saw in a BMW doc that SVS output is made by the ASK module which makes the GONG sound when you press the voice button. I have no GONG sound and no voice then may be the problem comes from my 2006 ASK flashed with the last version because when I select Top_HIFI , it add Top_HIFI_ab2005 option which is not installed in my 12/2003 745.

But I retrofit the original ASK unit to test the voice and no vice again then may be problem from the MMI ???
