2011 X3 Increased Battery Discharge

I hope this is in the right place, it's my first post and I apologize if not. I have a 2011 X3 just under 90,000 miles and for the past month or so it's been giving me increased battery discharge error messages at start up and various items have not been working without starting the car such as interior and exterior lights. I also noticed the heater would only blow at one speed, turning it up did not increase the fan.

So last week I took it to a local shop and he put in a new battery, replacing the original and when I left everything worked great just like it used to - for about an hour. Then it went back to the old error messages and things not working again.

When I called the dealer back he said that maybe he needed to test the alternator longer to see if that was the issue. Looking on my own I see that batteries need to be registered when replaced so I called him back and asked him about that and basically he had no idea what I was talking about. He said he would do some research and get back to me.

My local BMW dealer will register it for $75, is there a chance that would solve my problems? I would much rather pay that vs. a new alternator on top of the $300 I already paid for a new battery.

battery drain

Have them check across the metal tabs on top of the fuses for how much current draw there is after it goes into sleep mode. The way to do it is keep the door open to access the panel but push the latch down. I think it has to set for an hour or so before it goes into sleep mode. Also have all the battery leads check especially all of the ground straps
