Alarm Sensitivity

Possible to adjust the alarm sensitivity? Some guy at work keeps parking into my (and others') car with their dodge ram.

I'll be taking the mature route through work's HR department, but it would be great if I could adjust the sensitivity of the alarm, so if someone bumps my car, the alarm goes off.

Anyone know which module controls the alarm, and if it only detects tilt and interior motion or something?
I googled and saw lots of posts from 2004 where the alarm was so sensitive it goes off when people walk by.

The reason your alarm goes off when windows are down is due to infrared sensor stream being able to make it outside the vehicle and detect motion there as well. Windows create a barrier for the frequency to bounce and stay inside the vehicle. You could tweak the sensor manually to limit it's "visibility" spectrum by changing it's geometry, but I wouldn't recommend that.

So, externally it's just the tilt sensor, eh?

"Whenever the vehicle is shaken, an internal counter is set to 0 as soon as a defined measured value is detected in the opposite direction to the first measurement. This prevents a false alarm from being triggered, even when the vehicle is being shaken vigourously."

So, it appears that maybe by tweaking that setting I may be able to get my alarm to go off if the car is bumped sideways.

One test is to hit the lock button again after first locking. That sets the clown nose on full red for a few seconds showing you hit lock again. That disables the interior sensor and tilt sensor. This is what I have to do when traveling with my dog and going into a store, for example and leaving the dog in the car. Supposedly, that also disables the tilt sensor, but I never tested that one. So, if you try this, and the alarm goes off, it is something else.

When I was crossing a river by ferry, the motion detection set off the alarm. The crew got slightly annoyed and requested that I leave the car unlocked to disable the alarm. I ended up doing that since the alarm kept going off every couple of minutes.
