F30 uncovered!! NO CAMO

F30 spied with no camo

http://www.f30driver.com/forum/showthread.php?t=863873

Quote:
What a weekend! First spyshots of the new M3, then had the first leak of the Performance Concept 1-series and now this:

Somebody apparently managed to take the first (albeit blurry) shots of the new BMW 3-series sedan (F30). From what can be seen in those photos it will be a very handsome and evolutionary design. The front appears sporty yet elegant and -- to the relief of many -- the headlights are sleeker and and smaller compared to the F20 1-series. The rear clearly shows a family resemblance to the F10 5-series, yet the rearlights are somewhat different at the outer edges to make for a unique look.

As with the F20, the side turn indicators are now integrated into the mirros. There appears to be some badging at the front quarter panel where the side indicators used to sit. This makes us believe that BMW will introduce design lines for the new 3-series as well. The F20 1-series is available with Urban and Sport design lines, we expect the F30 3-series to sport similar design lines.

The exterior color seen here is called Mineral Gray. The interior of this particular car seems to be grey or beige. Interestingly, both dashboard and steering wheel have the same color. BMW actually seems to be repeating its past with their fully colored interiors of past days (also seen on F30 long wheel base prototypes meant for China). These shots also show that Head Up Display will finally make its way to the 3-series, as well as the free-standing iDrive screen following the design scheme introduced with the F12/3 6-series.

BMW will officially pull the wraps off of the new 3-series in November, but we wouldn't be surprised if more leaks would occur in the meantime.

Thanks to our Spanish tipster who just sent the original photos to our mail.
F30 3 series completed uncovered

Next generation 3 series exposed

im sure they'll sell a billion of these. I'm also sure anyone who owns a E21/30/36/46/90 will complain about, size, weight, complexity, ugliness, runflats, cost,etc...

I think I like it a lot and I can't wait to see it in person. I've mostly had 5's up until now and although I loved the looks of the F10 I got a 335 this time because the 5 Series felt rather heavy and less agile. On the other hand I love how the 335 drives and handles but it's just a touch too small. The F30 looks like it might fill that gap nicely. One of my favorite all time cars was my '02 530 Premium/Sport and it appears the F30 will be just about the same size as the E39 but with a lot more Go Fast. It will be fun to see and thanks for posting the pics.

Just call me naive, but I don't see much difference between the E-90 and the F-30. Frankly, the non BMW maven will not recognize the external difference, although the engine is drastically altered.

Hmmm, it looks nice and will probably be a sales hit but I'm not excited from these pictures. It looks like a mini 5 but not that mini since it looks like the 3'er is getting bigger and bigger. I'll hold judgment when the official pics and specs come out. In the end though it's all about the driving experience that will impact my decision whether this will be my next car.

If there will be a really sporty version with firm passive sport suspension, proper sports seats and a fat grippy steering wheel this one could be really good. Looks to be a nice size for us with kids.

Why? The 4 cylinder, replacing the 6 in 328 in US market, will have more power and torque, better mpg, and less weight. City drivability will be better due to higher torque, particularly with 7 or 8 speed auto. 6 cyl will still be offered in higher models if you want it.

It's natural to fear change. The inline 6 cylinder has been a BMW hallmark for generations. Some people have a bad taste in their mouths from the N54 HPFP fiasco, so the words, new, turbo and 4 used in conjunction leave them less than excited. I welcome the change and look forward to seeing what the engineers and designers will come up with considering the money, market share and momentum that BMW has in their sails.

The inline 6 is not going anywhere, it will continue to be offered in wide range of BMW's.

The 4 cylinder perception as being inferior is purely US based - 4 cylinder engines have always been offered by BMW in Europe and other parts of the world.

I guess it's prudent to be more specific, since this is a global brand. The normally aspirated inline 3.0 six as a base engine will be no more in the United States.
After having the chance to wring out the 2011 Kia Optima with 274 hp, 269 lb-ft of torque, I was literally in shock at the power delivery for such a small engine. Very interested to see how BMW's N20 will perform.

I'm really actually looking forward to the N20. Good powerful 4-bangers can be an absolute hoot to drive, and while there is almost always a certain level of harshness that disappears with a 6, my experience with BMW 4's in the EU tells me the N20 is going to surprise a lot of American anti-4 bigots.

Now the F30... no... I'm really not looking forward to that. Bigger, probably heavier... yeah, I'm not convinced. I'll certainly drive one, and one of the reasons I am leasing my ED 135i instead of buying is because I want to see what the F30 is like over the next three years. I would wait but I don't really want a "year one" car and my poor beleaguered Subaru is really struggling at this point

Exactly

VW GTI, GLI, CC, even the Audi A4 2.0T are a hoot to drive because of the great engine that's inside them. I expect no less from BMW either. I'm looking forward to this

I've lived with an Audi turbo 4 for 4 years. We had a 335i for a year. At this point I'm not very enthusiastic about turbos (though 2 years with an R56 Cooper S was fun). I miss the sensation of revving my 2003 330i to redline...liquid smooth and delightful. Turbos just aren't delightful. They're kinda boring...even with over 300 hp they do not make me smile with glee.

Looks weird. That thing is WAY too big for a 3 series IMO. The F30 will surpass the dimensions of my E34 5 series which is a pretty big car.

4 cyl

It would be hard to convince buyers to spend 50K+ for 4 cyl car...
That was the reason I did not buy A5 (manual comes only with 4 cyl)

It's about the same size as the E90. It did not grow substantially
