Extended Service Contract Rant

I bought my CPO 2014 328d in May of 2017. At the time, the New Car Warranty and Service Plan (which included breaks) expired February 2018. At the time I purchased the car, the dealer gave me the Vehicle Inspection Checklist which is the intake form when a car is traded in. The Checklist shows the car had 25,171 miles, and service was due as follows:

Engine Oil: 9,321 Miles
Front Brakes: 21,127 Miles
Rear Brakes: 18,641 Miles
Vehicle Check: 9,321 Miles
Microfilter: 9,321 Miles
Brake Fluid: 02/2019

When I bought the car, I purchased the extended service plan and paid $2,695 to extend the plan two years. The dealer told me, just on brake job, pads and rotors, makes it worth the price.

I drive 16,000 miles per year. I now have 70,000 miles. since buying the car, I have had the following services:

UNDER THE NEW CAR SERVICE PLAN (Up to 4 years or 50,0000 Miles)

1 Oil Service
1 Vehicle Check
1 Microfilter
1 Brake Fluid

UNDER THE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN (Expired Last Week)

4 Oil Services (Approx)

That's it!! I paid $2,600 for 4 Oil Services. I am still driving on the original brake pads and rotors with 70,000 miles. Dealer claims they are still within spec. I know the car does not brake the way it did before (legendary BMW braking systems).

Oh, and to add insult to injury, the dealer told me I need a new battery because there were some faults. Not covered under extended warranty or service plan. That's gonna run over $500 (I have heard too many nightmares from people who got batteries from cheaper sources who can't code them properly). Rear Passenger Brake Light Harness is broken. also not covered. Over $300 to replace. Even though I had replaced that part under the new car warranty once before, there is no warranty on parts replaced under warranty, apparently.

Thank you for listening to my rant. I don't think I have any recourse, but if anybody knows something that might help me get a set of brakes, please share.

Where's my CBD Oil?: mad:

My sympathies ... on my 3 and 5'er, I never had enough service cost to come close to the price of the extended warranty. I went almost 7 years on my 528i and replaced the brakes myself at 66k miles.

Sorry to hear this. Just like a casino, the odds are in the house's favor. BMW knows exactly what to price warranty contracts so they make a lot of money. If they didn't they would not offer them.
