Just finished this install on my F31. Took about 30 min, mostly due to futzing with the small set screws in the Blendmount, and trying to get the mirror plug housing reseated (had it at the wrong angle).

Parts used: BBE-2017 (Blendmount for Passport 9500) + MT-4012 (12" mirrortap). If I had to do it again I'd probably get the 15" mirrortap as there was absolutely no slack ... 13" would have been perfect!

Thanks all for the info and pics, made for an easy peasy install.

Looks good ... I've been considering the same method. How much of a blind spot is created by this mounting position?

None for me. Will take a head-on pic tomorrow so you can get a better idea.

12" but absolutely no slack and didn't give me any flexibility for cable routing. 15" would have been better.

Head on pic - it's in my LOS of obviously but not distracting once you get used to it and doesn't create any blind spots.

I'm assuming the +12V is only hot when the engine is turned on, and cuts power when the engine is turned off? I want to make sure I don't drain the battery.

I put an Escort 9500 in my F36 and mounted my control near my left leg and the display up by the mirror. This allows me to hit mute quickly, , I can cover it up easily if I ever get pulled over, and my display up top is visible to my eyes only, but if I power the thing down, you dont even see it. The point is, if you DO get pulled over and have a detector visible, you dont get off. Nice to be able to be a bit "stealthy."

Liking this thread a lot!

Wish BlendMount had an option to mount off center of clown nose and somewhat flush to bottom of mirror housing

Definitely going to add a Blendmount to my incoming M5. I am having a terrible time finding the right parts for my car, but looks like Blendmount ID#-BMW-006 and Mirrortap MTX-1015 is the correct one for the F10?

All of your installs look great, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting this! I use the Valentine 1 and have been looking for a solution for quite some time now. I was ready to just buy some Posi-Tap end splices and make my own pigtail for the detector. I do not want to use the Blendmount due to how visible it is and it's rather spendy. The suction cup mount is fine for me.

You and me both. Would make for a cleaner and less obstructive look. BTW: Is the install the same on a 2018 440i?
