335i paddle question --> for dealer please <--

There is a thread on this from time to time over in the E90 forum or elsewhere. Sorry if this is a mispost but I was really hoping to get this looked at from a dealer point of view who may have experience with this.

I am well aware that early 335i orders didn't "automatically" get the $100 paddle option added when sport/step was built. Now it is being added as mandatory. I understand that some dealers received earlier build 335i models with sport/step but not paddles either for their own inventory or mistakenly for customers.

My *dealer* question is just that as I please don't want to make this a paddle shift discussion, who likes them etc. as that has been covered quite a bit.

Simply: Has ANYONE seen a 335i that their dealership has put paddles on by swapping out the wheel or otherwise either at their cost, customers, or good will from BMWNA?

I have heard elsewhere this may require a different wiring harness and is therefore not realistically feasable, other places that it is just a swap w/new wheel and possible a re-program... So I'm just looking for anyone with a first hand account of seeing this take place and can shed some factual light on this.

Thank you for keeping this on topic and I appreciate any help.

I did talk to a couple of SAs but didn't start dialing ones I have never spoken to - I only really know one at my dealership here and one where the car is from. I was speaking to the local SA and he was pretty encouraging -- ultimately though after digging through some parts diagrams while speaking with me on the phone for a while he pretty much said he'd just need to get both the steering wheels off and have a look / try it. The original CA supposedly came back and said no but I wasn't speaking to him directly and had the impression his answer was just off the cuff.

Thanks Irv, I'll certainly post back if get lucky enough get them to try the above on my car and have some results.

I would call a few of your local dealers even if you don't know any of them. You might find one who you would like to work with.
