iPhone Plus won't fit in cup holder

I just got the bigger iPhone, 7+, and it's just slightly too wide to stand in the cup holder, which is really the best place for keeping it while driving I think.

Anybody made some slight modifications to that little bit of plastic between the cupholders to make it fit??? That's what I'm thinking of doing.

As in slicing through? Be sure to post before and after pictures.

I wouldn't. But if you own the car then it is your choice.

Dude! Everything you say, or gonna say, is vain hope now. The truth is: Your phone's more important than your car. Think about it.

So put on yer happy face as you place your ad on Ebay. Hint: Honda minivan's have handy trays between front seats, securing your 7+, and iPad. Bonus: Charge 'em both in situ as ya'll enjoy the comfortable ride. Cars'll drive themselves soon anyway.

So, you are going to cut up your $60K car for your phone?

I know it is seldom mentioned, but there is this cool little compartment right in between your front seats. It's really cool for storing things the size of a phone, and you can even rest your elbow on it. Hell, it might even have some neat electrical hookups in there - who knows?

Bluetooth, programmable buttons, voice recognition, color displays, etc. etc. These are all your friends at a time like this.

If not to your liking, I understand. It's your car, cut away. Remember, the next iPhone is likely going to be larger yet than the one you have now, so be sure to cut away enough for the next generation while you are in there. Please, post pictures when done.

why not put it in the center armrest? you can long press to activate siri. You can use bluetooth or USB connection for music. You can even text hands free using siri.

Why do you need the phone in the cup holder... unless you need to look at facebook or something while you drive?

Yeah I don't text while driving but at long lights I may use it occasionally. Also I need access to it to start certain apps for listening to radio, WhatsApp messages etc

I carry a 6S+ and a 7.

I use yer Big Boy when I gotta show someone something. But the 7's what I carry in my pocket, is my useful tool; my personal communication device. Just right for 1 hand operation w/grippy jelly case, just works.

Naturally I went for 256gb. Room to grow....

Hahahah!! That's so true. I used to have that huge iPhone. It was a blessing to put it away when driving.

I have a 7 plus on order and a 6 plus currently (darn...I made the mistake of buying a 16 gig 6 plus; not this time). I keep it in a leather belt case. It is connected via bluetooth. While I don't drive and text/email, if I need it I can easily remove it. To me the bigger pain in the rear end is the lack of a container for sun glasses. Most cars have one above the inside rear mirror but not my BMW. My solution for that is to wedge a glass case in front of (toward the engine) the cup holders. It fits in there snugly enough that it doesn't move but is way less convenient than a typical drop down holder. You might be able to use a cell phone case (leather, otterbox, etc.) that can wedge in the same place I put my sunglass case.

Wonder what happens if the airbag goes off?

I just put mine in the space to the right of the e-brake with one of the corners, more or less, tucked into the e-brake boot.

I have a 6 plus, which causes the same problem.

I throw it in the passenger seat. Usually the car turns on the passenger airbag and starts dinging, telling me to buckle in my "passenger" so I do.

My iPhone will be safe in a car accident. Thanks BMW!

That's why they call it a "cupholder" and not a "phone holder".

I tried wedging my 6 plus where I keep my sunglass case and it was just two big (even without a case). So I don't think that will work. But there are lots of phone holders for cup holders. For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2317033...&ul_noapp=true

I don't like any kind of add-on mounts in the car. But anyway I decided I'm going to return this for a 7 it's just too big for normal use for me. The camera with 2x zoom is a nice feature on the Plus but it's not enough of a reason to keep it.
