F80/F82/F83 M3 and M4 (2015 - Current)
F80 BMW M3 sedan, F82 BMW M4 coupe and F83 M4 convertible forum. This 5th generation M3 and all new M4 features a 3.0 liter twin turbo engine (engine code S55) 425hp and 406lbs of torque! Heavy use of light weight materials makes this generation lighter and faster then the outgoing E9x M3.

Mirror Mount for Escort iX - which are power & ground?

I'm trying to mount my radar detector (escort iX) under the rear view mirror of my 2018 F80 M3. Would anyone know which is the power and ground connectors to place the wires from the mount kit into? After removing the shell behind the mirror I have a red harness on top and a black one on the bottom.

In the bottom black harness;

I tried tapping the RED wire going into where a green/brown wire (power) is housed and the BLACK into the brown/black (ground). This did not work OR I may have not inserted them tight enough or just in the wrong places.

Looking for thoughts or if I should be doing it another way.

Thank you.

Wiring

I would not use any wiring in the mirror. You are going to need to use a mute button many times over with the iX. I suggest you get the hard wire accessory and mute button and use that. Don't permanently fasten the control till you drive around for a few weeks. Moving the button around a little bit can make all the difference in the world when you are driving and can easily touch it and mark, silence or other use of the control.
