Bluetooth pairing et al

My car doesn't have bluetooth. I'm not sure any of the older cars do.

In any case, I bought an inexpensive bluetooth device. It's plugged into my cigarette lighter port and easily paired with my Iphone.

I now need to connect it to an unused FM frequency. I can't get to one. Everything I do goes to a frequency with a station broadcasting.

I have read the audio system manual in detail - no explanation.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do ?? Please see the pic. Thanks.

You can't literally have stations broadcasting on EVERY available frequency, so I think I know what's going on. Your radio is probably in "seek" mode, so when you try to advance to the next frequency, it's actually seeking the next station, and finding it. If that's what's happening, take it out of seek mode so that you can tune manually. Then you'll be able to easily find an open frequency.

It sounds to me as if you are using the scan feature instead of manual tuning. Press the "M" between the two arrows on the lower right of the unit. Then each short press of an arrow will move to the next frequency, not the next station. An empty frequency may have a little hiss but will go away when the gizmo is paired. I use one to listen to podcasts from my phone. As mentioned above 87.9 was listed on a search as not being used much, but you can do a google search for your area for blank frequencies.
