I just placed my MZ4 Coupe order...

Late August production - the dealer is going to leave it at P3 for now because I'm not in a huge rush. Silver gray, extended black interior, carbon black leather trim, preferred package, heated seats, and navigation. to be

All right Cliff! Now the waiting really begins! By September I suspect you will really start Jonesing.

When I already owned an M coupe, as I was waiting for my M3 to arrive, I got more excited every day. I can't imagine what it would be like to be owning a 330 (even one as nice as yours) and be waiting for a Z4 M coupe. It's gonna be tough!

Hang in there Cliff

Yep, the wait is already sucking. By mid-late September I'm sure it'll be out of control and I'll be a basket case.

Why not a 2007?
Supposedly no August production.

I asked him - Willie Schmelz, GSM at Steve Thomas BMW is who I am working with - about which model year it would be and he indicated 2006. We'll see how things shake out as we get closer to that date. With the paucity of allocations, I decided to take the low risk route and go ahead and get my order in.

As in an invisible bra? That's going to be something done after the car arrives at the dealer. I'm hoping Willie has a guy he can recommend. If not, I'll be asking forum members for Ventura County recommendations as my delivery date draws near. It is my strong desire not to leave the dealer for a 300 mile drive home without some protection on the car. I could end up with a half dozen rolls of painter's tape, a la Stuka

I've been vacillating on the color vexed, so this was a late decision. I think I like this car better in silver or gray than I do in red.

Thanks for the reminder, I neglected to ask if that was a possibility. I'll give it a shot - worst case, he says no.

You can change it again before you hit status 150. I just got my July Roundel but have not read the entire article yet. I would not know which color to get, but from everything I have read the car is a hoot to drive.

Let us know. I am picking mine's up & driving back so I would want it on there.
Worsecase is I can have a local installer goto the factory & install it while I am there.
2hr job while I'm doing the driving lessons & tour.

ha ha

Ahh, PCD - Performance Center Delivery. No, I live in California and I don't really want to put 3000 miles on the car immediately on delivery. I am pondering the wisdom of driving to homecoming someday though.

PDC = park distance control, and I just emailed Willie asking him if it was doable.

edit - got a quick answer on that question - nope, sorry. Oh well.

I'm told the car will stay in 111/112 for another 10 days or so. I'm pretty solid on this color combo.

Not to hijack the thread, but something I've been wondering about was brought up...
I plan on doing a PCD next spring. Can they do clear bra there? I definitely plan on a clear bra, it's one thing I regret not doing on my current car. But if it can't be done there in conjuction with PCD, I don't want to drive across the country before getting it done. Might be a deal breaker as far as PCD is concerned.

No they cannot do clear bra there. But someone from the Greenville area can recommend an installer I am sure.

Cliff way to go! There will be at least one Silver Gray M Coupe on each coast. I'll empathize with you on the wait, now that "it's official" it becomes all that much harder.

Question - is your car actually in production now? Sounds like it is with the status and all. If so, when was the allocation for this car? If its not in production, from all we've read and been told it won't be produced until September as no Coupes are being made in August. You can read through my thinly veiled interest as I'm trying to figure out when I'm getting mine.

I'm going to ask again also regarding PDC - nothing ventured.............

Andy

One medium-dark blue BMW in the garage at a time is enough for me, and I am keeping my Topaz 3er as my daily driver. I expect to be as anal (or moreso) with the finish on this new car as I have been with the 3er. I'll be spending every freaking weekend detailing cars... It's a good thing I enjoy washing cars

I'll be at next year's Fest with this car, so you'll likely see it in person at some point.

I have a PDF copy of the vehicle inquiry form, Andy. It has a production number that was accepted by Owner's Circle, and it indicates week 34 production - the week beginning Monday, August 21. And my name on it
