E39 five spoke wheels , I need an opinion please!

Good Day BFest

I will be in Beijing (China) for the next three days, went to a show and found these 17x8 replica wheels, guaranteed to fit in a BMW E39.

I need your opinions on these wheels, how do you think they will look?

Thanks

LL

I am sure they will fit a chinese car, but frankly I would be worried putting chinese made after market parts on my BMW. Perhaps in about another 5 or 6 years when their quality standards come up to par, but for now...hmmm.....

Maybe you are right, but a few words

Up to May 2006, Shengyang-based BMW China has manufactured more than 200,000 BMW 5 Series and BMW 3 Series.

Most of BMW electronics (Bosch and Siemens) is made in China.

All Volvo OE Rims are manufactured by Firenze Wheel Corp. in China. (This wheels are Firenze)

US$250 for the whole set (05), Tempting!

I dont have any doubts about their quality and fit, I am just not sure if they will look good in my e39.

Thanks

Agreed! My 18" M5 rims are replicas and I've already had to replace two of them. Now the sticker has fallen off of another one.

contact wheel exchange and get m-par replicas from them. they are actually very good quality.... so good, bmw threatened to sue them if they keep advertising them on their website. rumor has it that it's the real M-pars just not distributed by BMW so they have to call it replicas but it really isn't.

Those plants are operated under the original manufacturer's standards for quality.

Unless these wheels are also designed and manufactured according to a foreign company's standards I wouldn't trust them.

Thanks for your replies,....... but cum on!, give me a break!

Lets forget about these chinese manufacture fobia. I just want to know what would you think if installed in a e39.
I have seen these wheels as OE in a E46, and they look really good.

thanks

Hmm, well I bet they look really hot on an E46, but I've never seen E46 rims that I liked on the E39.

+1. At worse, if it ever snows in Texas, you can use them as the spare set with snows.

How are you getting them shipped back? My guess is +/- 25lbs per wheel = 100lbs in your luggage.

that might exceed the weight limit for carry on and nobody knows the track record for Air China and how many crashes it has... it's all communistically covered up.

Not really my style, but if you like them go ahead and get them. You will just have to pay to ship them back, and will most likely cost you the same if you just bought it here from a local shop, unless they don't have them here and you want that style.

On another note, alot of the companies here make there wheels now in Asia. China, Taiwan, Korea just to name a few.
ASA wheels are made in Korea and they are not bad quality. Some of the Axis/EXE wheels are made in Taiwan and have the VIA, JWL, and TUV approval on them. Unfortunately not all the wheels get caught by the quality control at the manufactures. All depends on which manufacture is the wheel coming from, there are so many in main land China. Since your at the show look for WHI-CHAI or Merit Co. I was there a couple of years back and delt with those guys before.
Good Luck buddy.
