E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

I have an 87 535is with 347K. I did the last 200K terrorizing I-40. It still runs well, drives well. It's only monetary value is as a parts car.

Some people only know the price of things, not the value of things.

Exactly the same issue I have. I still love the car. I like the E series styling better than the F or G 6-series models.

My Wife drives a 2019 530E and while it's nice I still like my car better.

(BTW lots of issues maybe software, in the dealer again now.)

So the choice is keep it and deal with the pain to repair the leaks etc, or sell it for basically nothing, or at least it feels that way.

Then what do I buy?

For now I guess I'll limp along.

@roseng You could buy a Bugatti Chiron. They look similar, plus the Chiron makes the 24 most beautiful cars of all time list. But better to be penny wise than pound foolish. I say this after spending $1149 replacing 4 solenoids in my ZF transmission, about a fifth of the car's value.

Sorry, guys, I used the expression "penny wise, pound foolish" incorrectly. Just trying to assuage my own angst about owning one of these gorgeous beasts.

I'm envious that you can drive to all of the great wine regions of Europe, let alone a jaunt to the Eifel mountains.

What a great idea! Why didn't I think of it. And yes they do look alike.

Funny thing is that while it was in the US, it spent a lot of time at our place in Healdsburg which is the heart of Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys in Sonoma Co.
It's already been to the Loire Valley and Burgundy regions in France. Missed out on Bordeaux last June due to a silly thing I did. There is a drive down to Portugal in the future, as well as Italy but that will be later.

When I purchased my 08 5 years ago I had been looking for a 911. This car popped up and it was so nice I purchased it...
The 911's I was looking at 5 years ago have maintained their value.. Wish I would have known that....

The 6 series is one of those cars that was overlooked when it was new, for a variety of reasons discussed at nausea in the forums. It does have a cult following among owners. Whenever I see one on the road I always marvel at what a handsome car it is. I LOVE the styling. I also notice people looking at my car when I drive it. This past weekend I drove up to Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort to see the Godsmack concert. When I left the Valet that fetched the car for me was very enamored by it. He was asking questions and complimenting it. He couldn't believe it was a 2004. I have a feeling these cars will make a nice rebound in the next few years as they transition from used car to collectible. Especially the non-SMG cars, as well as cars that are convertibles and equipped with a manual transmission.
