Fixer upper

Hello everyone,
I have a 98 328i that I bought as a fixer upper car. I was doing some work on the catalytic converter when I noticed a clamp or something was lodged behind it. We were able to pry it out, but it doesn't look like it goes anywhere on the exhaust. Does anyone know what this could be, or how to fix the issue?

Welcome to Bimmerfest!

I'd say that's an exhaust hanger, except it doesn't look like any of the exhaust hangers I've seen on my E36s,

It had a rubber boot inside of it, which led me to believe it could be an axle mount. It doesn't appear to be an exhaust mount, but it could be. It was lodged above the catalytic converters, and right above it was a tear in the heat shield, if I can find the pictures of that I'll post them. QUOTE=hornhospital;13079813]Welcome to Bimmerfest!

Here are some pictures of the location that the mount was found in.
