I have checked my mpg .I am getting about 16 mpg .car runs great but mpg is low .found 3 vac leakes and have changed the plugs.the plugs looked light tan with a ash deposit on them.after the plug change it ran good with a SOP of power gain.to gain back more mpg what else should I look at?

2.5 Trying to drive the speed limit but you will get ran over if you don't go 75 to 80 on the high way .The car gained a lot of hp with the vac leaks repaired and new spark plugs.the mpg seems low .wanting to make sure that there nothing else wrong.

I'm only getting 16-17 mpg on my 1999 Z3 roadster. Worse part is it takes hi-test gas at close to $5/gal. Choice of 89 octane which is two lower than 91, or 93 octane which is two higher. I haven't tried the 89 so I'm running the 93.

91 octane not available here. Just 87, 89, and 93.

Continuing to veer from topic, but...
CostCo Top Tier 93 is $2.98 In Louisville today. And here's my three fill ups this year:
Date - Trip Meter - Gallons - MPG - Driving Type
3-Jan-19 - 49,544 - 183 - 6.6 = 27.8 in city, suburb
3-Jun-19 - 49,758 - 215 - 7.7 = 27.8 in city, suburb
19-Jul-19 - 49,989 - 230 - 8.0 = 28.8 in city, suburb, 1/2 rural

I get around 17mpg in my M Coupe around town but a lot of high rev driving. When I had my Z3 Coupe 3.0 I was around 22-24 mpg around town. The S52 isn't as efficient I guess lol.

I got 29.1 mpg with my 1997 Z3 2.8 on our 2100 mile plus round trip to ZFEST this year in Blacksburg, Virginia which involved back roads, interstates and some city driving (more interstate driving than I would have liked). There was a fair bit of spirited driving during ZFEST. Last summer on a 2600 mile plus trip to the east coast and back, I got 29.4 mpg.

that's great mpg. I am wondering what else is wrong on my car that I should be looking at.the car runs great but the mpg is not were it should be.i am hoping the Costco gas will be a improvement over what the other owner was using.

Costco gas will not affect the running or the mileage. But it is probably the least expensive Top Tier gas.

hoping that by using top tier gas only that I will not get a ash deposit on the plugs.I don't know what the guy before me used .New plugs and a full tank of Costco gas gave the car a lot more pep.the old plugs had a yellowish ash deposits on them.i also fixed three vac leaks.Air filter looks good .what else can I look at that is causing low mpg?

I have a 1999 2.3 and get about 18.5 driving mostly short distances, on the hills. 91 gas only, which is the higher octane available here.

I need to amend my gas price quote. I filled up today and it was a little over $3 for 93 octane. I got an even 20.0 MPG driving on back country roads. The $5 was a memory mistake

Have you used the Gas Buddy app gives the prices all around your zip code, up dated all during the day?

after making repairs to the rubber intake boot and plug change ,I am now at 27 mpg all around driving.i am only buying gas from Costco .they allways beat everyone on price. but the big reason is the old plugs had a build up of ash on the plugs that I think was from using cheap gas.By using only one kind of top teir gas it may help with build up of deposits.

Get my gas at B.J.'s they always have the lowest price plus if you pay with the B.J.'s credit card you get 10 cents a gallon off immediatly plus all the points, I love it when we go inside and buy a crap load of stuff and the cashier says you have a 20.00 credit would you like me to take it off the price. I always say yes,

I have seen it but not used it. I am first interested in Top Tier, with price second. In practice that means every local fill up I drive 4 miles each way to buy CostCo premium or regular, depending on the car. On a trip I look for Top Tier Shell or BP.
