Dinan Stage 2

I was in the dealership looking for a windbreaker while they are on clearance and joked with the parts manager whom I've known for a long time, that 'since the Dinan tunes are on sale half price I'll get that too'. He said that if they were, he would put one on his son's car too. A couple of seconds later he looked at me with wide eyes and said, "Dinan just put the Stage 2 tunes for the N54 on sale till the end of the month, they are basically half price!"

So, I set up an appointment in service and I'm taking the car in Thursday morning to have it put on. I had the Stage 2 tune on my 2009 535i which had the N54 and I can say without a doubt that it really woke the car up.

Looking forward to it!

Lots of people have looked at this thread but no one responded so I just thought I would post that I got the download installed and I can say that it is well worth it. Woke the car up just like I remember from my 2009 5 series.

Normal driving is really no different but the torque is more immediate when asked for and there is more of it.

I am considering the Stage 2 for my '16 35is. Is the increased boost always on? You do not have to put the settings into sport, and move the stick to sport to get the boost? Ask because, I find the Sport ride setting, which also gives a second power increase, to very harsh riding unless Im on good asphalt, something were missing here in the NE

Why did you decide on Stage 2 rather than Stage 3?

Stage 2 is the only tune available for a 35is.

Dinan

I was just in for an oil change and I was taking to the head mechanic and he informed me that the Dinan upgrade is not authorized by BMW and it could affect the warranty. I was going to go with the Stage 1 for my 15' 35i, but have de.cided against it. You might want to check it out.

That is absolutely true, but Dinan picks up the balance of your factory warranty.

Dinan stands by their products. IF you encounter a problem, they'll take care of you.

Pulled the trigger and had the Stage II installed today. Didn't have enough runway in front of me on my way home, so I couldn't really see the difference. What I did notice was that moving into S suspension no longer draped the gears for better acceleration. It now needs Sport Plus. Also, moving the stick into sport seems to be redundant achieving the same increase as Sport Plus. Previously, these were cumulative. Tomorrow I'lll take it our and see how much faster it really feels.

Ive had a few months to live with the Dinan Stage 2 and I have to take back what I wrote previously. It's actually seems to have gotten considerably faster over the last few months. I've taken two M3s, and quite frankly, the Z4 never looked back. Im totally satisfied with the Dinan tune. Its a lot of bang for the buck.

Mein Auto: 2015 BMW Z4 35i,
I have the Dinan Stage 2 on my 15 35i and it has made it a much more enjoyable car to drive . No dyno but it definitely has more HP and the torque is WAY better. Most power gain you can get without modifying engine components.

Dinan

Hi, I had a stage 2 Dinan tune on my 2015 z4 35i at a cost of $800. Totally transformed the performance. Highly Recommended!

Do these Dinan Tunes pass emissions in states that have it?

I put a Dinan II on my 12' 35is and it improved immediately and improved itself as the shop that installed it said it would but as I have experienced with other performance projects it takes other improvements to realize its true performance, so, I changed out the downpipes to more flow and catless downpipes. I read many times the plastic charge pipe could crack and especially with the extra boost so I changed it for an aluminum extra flow charge pipe and added a BOV then changed out the intercooler to a competition cooler made for the car and these changes improved the performance even further but have not dynoed it to verify the increases but i shame many of the cars blogged as being faster than the z4. My two issues are that when I run it in sport plus in the summer it climbes past 250 in oil temperature and I haven't pressed it to see how far over and am considering a larger oil cooler and with the catless downpipes i get a code which I feel would fail me at the inspection process so I am wondering if anyone has taken similar steps and found how to eliminate the code? As for Dinan II tune, I recommend. I think most problems come from enthusiasts running into issues due to trying to get all their performance from pure racing tunes of other brands. I still wanted the car to perform properly as a regular driver. You know, a proper sports car but not an all out race car.
