Yesterday I called the 800 number and when prompted added my production number for my 230i convertible and found that it was in production with an end production date of 6/20/19. Does anyone know how long a build takes from start to finish? 20 days seems long.
Also my USA delivery port is NYC. Does anyone know how long it takes from end of production to delivery at my Just north of Syracuse NY dealer ?
Hi JC, find out from your CA which port is the destination and I'll check later tonight the possible ships it could be on, if it gets on a WW ship and not another shipping company.
Thanks for trying to help.
I sent an email to see if they know which port. I will be lucky if they know which country.
After looking into the European Pickup, that looks like something I would have enjoyed. May have even saved money. Maybe next time if we buy another BMW.
Your port should actually be on your order sheet. Actually, it would have been four to six weeks had our cars not sat in a Bremerhaven parking lot for two weeks, which previous evidence seems to indicate that it is fairly unusual.
Good to know they were telling me the truth. Not used to car dealers here do that sort of thing.
I don***8217;t know what you mean by order sheet. The dealer probably has that info. They gave me a final draft of the purchase with agreed final price. There is a build code at the top of the page, but that is all I can find.
Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but what is the ***8220;CA***8221; everyone keeps talking about?
Here is what my CA just sent. I guess patience isn***8217;t my best virtue.
***8220; I just came in to checked today on my day off, it is still sitting at the port in Europe and still hasnt been assigned to a vessel or been picked up. I am learning I have to be patient because weather and holidays can sometimes affect shipping. It will send me a email as soon as they have a vessel assigned and I will send it to you.***8221;

Bartlesville is about 600 miles from Galveston right? I think your vehicle will be on a truck from there after it goes through customs etc at the port of entry.
I have been checking online for 7 weeks. I was wondering why they have been sitting at the port for two weeks without a vessel assignment. Though I am learning how to have more patience.
It is a Christmas Miracle! My car has finally been loaded on the Orion Highway K-Line vessel and unless there are delays should dock in Galveston TX. On January 8th. It was at the port for over two and a half weeks.
Here's you carrier approaching Southampton. To track, go to marinetraffic.com, click on search and enter your vessel's name. To get rid of of the other types of ships, do a vessel filter and only select cargo vessels. Once the carrier is out in the Pacific ocean, you won't see it until it gets close to the US coastline. Have fun tracking...
I've had car models of many of my cars. I had to get a 1er to get a model of my 230i convertible ( they are about the same model) in silver not seaside blue and pretty small. I think it is 1/64th scale or so. It came in a little presentation box but it is a convertible which is pretty hard to find.
Glad to hear your car is now on a carrier. Once the carrier clears England it will seem stuck in the same place in the ocean for a few days until it gets close to the US coast.
Thanks for the tracking info. I now have the link setup to track the ships path. Will let you know when the car finally arrives. I have been documenting this entire purchase to delivery process for future reference. At least my wife was able to enjoy her BMW coffee mug for Christmas.
After 84 days the car is finally in my garage. Now I just have to ***8220;study***8221; the user manual and use the BMW Genius app to learn how to use the car. I feel like I***8217;m back in school getting ready for an exam. It will probably take me years to learn most of the functions. I***8217;m sure just as I feel like I know everything, it will be time to buy a new a new car or I will be so old I can***8217;t drive.
The weather sucks here right now so I will post pictures when I can put her in the sun.

We've been waiting for the good news. Did I understand this right? the car is for your wife? Like indufan says the tech is in need of a remedial lesson. However the driving fun will erase the quirks as soon as you start it up. My wife has yet to drive mine but she loves the passenger seat. Put the top down and it is good to go.
Yes, this is my wife***8217;s car. She had a 2011 Honda Accord sport coupe with a v6 and 273hp. She loved the power and acceleration. This car will definitely take time for her to adjust. It is amazing that the 4 cylinder turbo in the 230i has almost as much torque as her Honda. I think she will really love how it handles. Much better than the Honda.

Congrats on the new car (finally!) The pick up and handling always makes me smile!

Tried manage attachments and it would not load image. File size was under 500k.
