Quick question :) re- startup message..

HI Guys,
I've had my 325Ci for a few months now, but every time I start her up, she tells me "oil service - 3745 miles" this does not change, even though I have done about 1k miles since I bought the car.

Could somebody explain what this means? and why the figure soesnt change ?

Apologies for noobness :S
Cheers
oh, and btw, if anyone is feeling extra friendly..
About how much does mobile small chip reapair cost in UK, (and does anyone know anyone on mid-wales??)

How much would a bimmer garage charge me to change a few things, like switching OFF the 'anti-hijack' door locking, make anoise when arming the alarm etc (or can anyone tell me how to do this myself? )

Thank you as always guys
Stoo

I think the reason your oil service message is not changing is because the oil change interval is calculated based on your driving habits. It factors in number of starts, rpms, etc. You are most likely easier on your engine than the previous owner was and thats why your service interval has not changed.

Also, if that's a MINUS mark in front of the number, it means the car thinks you are WAY overdue for the oil service...

Thanks guys,
I DO have the minus, so it looks like it's oil service time. I wont be a noob and ask about that here, I'll save you all the replies and RTFW !!

Thanks again

Yeah the wiki will have all the answers for you. The short answer is most here prefer BMW oil 5-30. It is in essence Castrol european formula 5w30.
