Software Update

Hi Everyone. My SA claims that my last software update on my 2016 428XI was in 2018 and I am in need of one now off warranty. He wanted to charge me around $350. He noted one fault from the head unit. I declined for the time being. It sounded like an awful lot of money for very little labor.

Are there any alternative ways to obtain this software update? And what are the ramifications of not doing it?

You could ask what was being updated. I would go ahead with it.

Yes ask for details on the fault code. Have you noticed any problems?

They told me everything would be updated. I had one fault a few months back (might have been the headlights now that I think about it) but it never recurred. I guess I was just wondering if there were independents who could do this at a lower price.
