F22 and F23 in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side are the Charging circuit fuses.
F22 is the 12 volt to the alternator and F23 are the 12 volts to the light in the dash.

I checked them and they were good but I still have the battery light on and I had the alternator check at a auto parts store and it said that the voltage regulator was off or not working. But they didn't know anything else

Either the little connector on the back of the alternator is loose or it is time to change alternators again.

Just changed alternators on the $500 special '98 740i that I just bought. Not all that much fun.

If you have a local auto electric shop you might try them first. They may be able to fix yours inexpensively. Otherwise it is all about your pocket book. Auto wrecking yards could be a good choice too.
Mine was lightly used and had been on the shelf in my garage for a while so I have no clue on current prices.
