Blown engine

While driving the other day my wifes X328i felt like it had some bad gas, after driving about 20 minutes there was a metallic rattle sound followed by an engine shutdown. It turns out that the timing chain guide broke, part got stuck in the chain and we are now getting a new engine. This car has been meticulously maintained and only has 43,000 miles, fortunately still under warranty. There was no recall or warning whatsoever. So to those with this engine BEWARE.

Wrong forum?

Seems like you meant to post this to either the X3 or 3 Series boards? This forum is for the X2.
