Haven't got around to pics of the car. Mother nature didn't want to cooperate when I had free time. I'll get to them eventually. Had some time to give the car a more thorough look over. Not surprisingly, my headlight adjusters are shot. The xenon low beams themselves look pretty tired. I could replace the adjusters and replace the bulbs. But since the car is a 10/2002 build. The lights most likely can't be opened. Well I mean they CAN be opened but it's a more involved surgery that I'm not really up for. Probably going to source a set of the euro lights for a cleaner look soon. I don't do much night driving anyways, so it's not a real rush.

That's what turns me away from doing a 6spd swap in the e39
I haven't looked to far into the electronic end of the swap, but I know several people have done the swap, so it couldn't be TOO bad.
For example, my V70R runs Bosch Motronic 7, which is much more complex than the older Motronic 4.4 (used in 1998 models). It's a lot more particular about modules being coded to the VIN and whatnot, and all that car required was a tune that included converting the software to recognize a manual transmission. I also had to wire in the reverse light switch as well as jump a starter signal wire from the neutral switch so it would let me crank it without the park/neutral safety switch installed.
So far I have about 3500 miles on the swap and it's doing well! I just flashed the updated version of the tune today (I have a stage 1) and it's pretty quick... peaks at 17 PSI but I need to figure out why it's taking so long to spool up the turbo. I feel like there's still a small boost leak that I've missed.

Well it would've been much faster if it didn't take me 2.5 hours just to get OUT of Sacramento. Traffic was an absolute cluster f***k! An from Redding to pretty much the rest of the way back to Portland, there were so many damn 50mph construction zones. Lot of them were down to a single lane at one point so I got stuck behind many super slow semi trucks. It was ridiculous.

I just got the car too, didn't want to risk getting a speeding ticket right off the bat trying to rush back. Not to mention I had so many douchbags trying to race me. One guy in a charger kept honking and signaling me to go. But I didn't. He gave me the bird and raced off....only to see him pulled over awhile later down the road lol.

Yup, debadge otherwise it's going to to be like that pretty often. I don't mind the "arousement" it causes, so I added a M3 badge to my front grille to provoke them coming up in their rear view too... ...

I'll leave it as is. If I was younger like 21 I probably would've wrecked the car by now or gotten several speeding tickets racing someone. But now being 34, I've grown out of that phase lol.

I was thinking about parts after perusing a few threads. This is how you do it, gotta make cosmic brain plays for your E39.

In the process of gutting the interior of the beast. Did the same thing with the old 540i after I bought it. Want to make sure everything is nice an clean. Hopefully I don't find any "Gentlemans relish" stains lolol. Also going to sort out some rattles. Replace the obviously blown speakers. Then use some letherique rejuvenator on all the panels since it's a full leather interior. Though sadly, I think I may need to source a new leather center console. When I pulled the one from my car, the plastic disintigrated in my hands an it's all messed up. Also didn't notice before that the leather on the dash has split near the defrost vents. Going to remove the part, and soak the s**t out of it in leatherique for some time. Hopefully that'll soften it up to be repairable. If not?...ah crap lol. Also will need to sort out a new nussbaum center console trim piece. Though I can source a good used part anywhere for cheap so it's no big deal.

And then to add insult to injury...both sunroof rails are shot. But I never use the thing anyways, even on my old car. Plus the roof is sealed so that's all that matters. I'll eventually get to sometime next year around spring. Little bit at a time.

Ewwwwů You actually said that out loud.

I just repaired the sunroof on my project car and used that knowledge to adjust the sunroof on my daily driver. If it's just the plastic clips, it's only about $10 for parts and a couple hours of head scratching to replace them and adjust the glass properly.

I was able to lift the glass at one point to see what the damage was. An sadly it's all broken. Managed to seal the glass snug so it doesn't leak. If it does start to leak, then I'll repair it. Until then, I'm not going to fret about it.

And yes...I did say that out loud hahaha.

Yeah I'm definitely not interested in a phone that has facial recognition technology, especially if it's also used to make payments. One has to be a real lazy dullard to see this as a convenient function. Imagine the risks.

Tesla drivers are sharing their flopped Summon attempts on social media showing their cars activate its in-board Autopilot hardware and nearly get into accidents and bump into other vehicles and in some instances, the car is ignorant of pedestrians. Some of the damage caused are into the the $ thousands as Tesla bodywork is notoriously expensive to repair.

..... Lol!!!
People too lazy to walk to their cars deserve to have this happen. I could be mistaken though.

Yeah the area under the center console is absolutely disgusting. Just got the whole dash out. Going to soak in leatherique an hopefully the upper pad will soften enough to get repaired. Also ordered a new blower motor and resistor so I won't have to worry about tearing the dash apart again later on.

One thing I truly envy though is the security cameras surrounding those Teslas .. Don't remember right now what they call the system, but it's incredible with vandals and idiot drivers anywhere near the car....

Picked up an aux input cable for the M at the dealer a little while ago. Before leaving I browsed the new cars in the showroom. The new 8 series isn't that bad. It actually looks better in person. Obviously doesn't look as good as the old E31, but better than the 7 series-cack! But one thing I noticed was how bad the leather they use on the cars now. Don't know if it's still dakota leather, but it felt rough, cheap and smelled weird. The cars with nappa an murino were nice. But damn that base leather/vinyl or whatever the hell it is they use is just awful. Seriously, I work at a Subaru dealer and the leather in those cars feel more high quality.
