It is BACK!!!

FINALLY! After two and a half weeks, I have retrieved my car from the dealer. It would seem that the cause of the no-start problem has been finally nailed down. Of course, I've heard that before and I will prudently wait a bit before rendering final judgement.

A bad relay was causing the coils not to fire. Unfortunately BMW never considered that the relay may fail, hence the electronics never caught it and no code was thrown.

All the gory details at the end of the longrunning thread with all my woes and tribulations. With pictures.

Glad you got it back! I have been following your threads religiously hoping you would one day find the cure. I know what you mean about getting your legs back. When I drive other cars, I'm like WTF? even though those other cars are considered sporting. I sincerely hope the dealer has found the solution for you, and that the problems will be a bad memory very soon! Hang in there!

Light green in the forward electronics bay. Supposed to power up the coils (haven't checked the WDS). Details here.

Oh, and as a counterexample about the evil dealers, there was NO CHARGE, although they had the car taking up a slot and a MoDIC transmitter pod in the shop for 2 1/2 weeks. Even got a free carwash as bonus.

Barring any relapse, since I finally received my K+DCAN OBD2 to USB cable I will be able to learn the sublieties of Bimmer programming with the help of the wise 'Festers, and finally code up the key/memory options to my liking. Dealer is still too dumb to get them right.
