G30 (2017 - Current)
The next generation 5 Series, chassis code G30, arrives at dealers in February 2017. Looking like a scaled down 7 Series and riding on the CLAR platform, the new 5 Series will have a focus on lightweight and sporty performance. Engines options will come from BMW's new B family for the 530 and 540 and a turbocharged V8 for the M550i. Read more about the 2017 5 Series

Status of "uncoding" Adaptive Head Lights

Has there been any update on if the Adaptive Headlights will ever be "de-coded" to allow their use?

I know a few forum members had some coders "engage" the system... any comments from those who have done this?

Once you go fully adaptive, you never go back. Worth more than the price of admission. Would not bet on any U.S. changes anytime soon - we are slow to react on these type of thongs usually.

I think you have your "phrasing" backwards.
What kind of coding are you looking for?
Here is a link to "some" responses.

He is obnoxiously referring to having the anti-dazzle recoded on his adaptive headlights.

Supposedly they're actively working on rules changes in the US for this now. No word on when it might happen yet, though.

Many manufacturers have been actively working to change laws. But, so far, only Canada has been changed.

Did you also code fogs with highbeams? If yes, try not enabling fogs.

Have you seen the notch that you see as the dark spot in headlights on the five series in general. I wonder if itís by default? Click image for larger version

I have a question about this. I am looking at a Canadian market 2018 M550i. It has two items listed on the build sheet: 05AP Decoding anti-glare high-beam assistant 08S4 Decoding, variable light distribution
Does "decoding" mean these are active features, or disabled?
