+1 for Zaino Z2 Pro. 1 bottle lasted me 5 years as only very thin coat is required
for the windows the best i found is Aquapel and only requires annual reapplication (2 years, if garaged)

If you don't mind my asking, what part of the exterior detail took 5 hrs? Is that just the opti-coat application or was it the whole thing (wash, polish, clay, de-ion and opti)? Probably a better question would be how would you compare the opti step to a good wax (incl. wheels), to an already clean car?

They say that an opti-coated car doesn't need to be waxed, would you agree?

I have been seriously considering this and I would really appreciate the opinion of someone that has used it and is not trying to sell me something. Thx.

The whole process took 5hrs, but you should waits a while to wax, opti coat works like a clear coat but thicker, wax you can do but don't polish, as the polish would remove the opti coat from what I read. But I'm reading the Zaino is great to use and the process is much easy to apply.

I've been using zaino since 2002 until opticoat in 2012. Puts zaino to shame. Had it on the car 10 months and through winter. Water still beads strong, paint still shines awesome, best of all touchless washes during the winter months actually get crap off the paint!

Thanks, my car really needs a good detailing (swirl city - from the prev owner). From your experience, how long did the opti-coat step take? I plan to do the whole thing wash, clay, polish, de-ion and then either wax or opti-coat. is the opti-coat application about the same as waxing, and if not, how much more or less?

1st Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
2nd Clay it using a spray detailer
3rd polish to remove any swirl and to bring back that shine, but take your time with the polishing this very important , any swirl that you don't remove will be more noticeable
4th Use a 15% IPA or go to the auto geek they sell Car Pro Eraser Intense Oil & Polish Cleanser, to remove all oil polish and wax
5th your going to add Opti coat do one single panel at a time, add it and let it dry go back and check it in 5 min and lighty buff with microfiber to even out any areas where you see streaks, let it cure for at least 12 hours then enjoy

I put four coats of Zaino the night we brought the car home (after washing and claying it).

It went like this........AIO, Z2, Z2, Z8

It makes the black sappire look like a black sapphire!

I have read good things about Opti Coat though and your car actually looks better without the Photoshopping. Nice job!

I paid $480 for a full detail and had opti coat applied to body, lights, grill, window surround and wheels. It's in line with what I expected to pay.

My buddy had to pay $100 more due to the extra work that was required to correct the paint and remove swirl marks.

The results for both cars was fantastic!

I'm thinking about doing this and wondering if the Windows should be done too or not. Is it safe, good, bad??

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Bimmer App
Opti-coat has a separate product for the windows.
