7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

2016 740i no air blowing through vents

Hi guys new to forum. Been reading on here for years.

I had this happen to me 4 times already. 2 Times this week alone. And it's been 100 degrees here in Northern California all week.

It's intermittent.

The other day, No air blows through any vents. Ive tried all the settings (max ac, auto, manual. etc.). Then all of a sudden after sweating for 20 mins it magically turns on again. And everything works fine.

Today it happens again. But this time air comes on then would shut off in less than 30 seconds. Then 30 mins later it magically turns on again.

I've already made an appointment with the dealer but was curious if any other owners have had this issue.

Thanks in advance.

I just got my car back from service, 2018 740i. I had been complaining of the basically useless ac system in the car when it is hot (southern California). I had also been feeling like the car was under performing when accelerating from a stop and i kind of assumed it was when i put 22" wheels on it that were heavier or just made it less responsive. I dealt with it until my check engine light came at 13,400. Apparently there is some actuator that opens the flaps on the kidney grill for air flow that was not opening, and this caused both issues with the performance and the ac. they changed the part and everything is much better, ac blown much stronger and the performance is back to being responsive.
