7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

Rumor: BMW 8 Series Getting Axed

I know this isn't the 8 series forum, but nobody checks or posts over there, so I figured you guys might be interested in this info. BMWBlog posted last night that there are rumors the new Z4 and 8 series Coupe & Convertible will get axed. The BMW CEO resigned recently and they are looking at cutting costs to remain profitable and relevant in the future. It sort of makes sense since Mercedes already announced that they won't be making a future S-Class Coupe or Convertible due to poor sales.

Read the article

I think the exterior of the 8 series is nice, especially with the M-sport package, but most BMW fans look at it as a 6 series with a higher price tag. For the price point the interior is not special enough. It seems the car is just big and long so they can charge more. The report suggested that the 4-door 8-Series Gran Coupe would still be around.

I think the Z4 looks horrible, particularly the front headlights. I know BMW partnered with Toyota on the Z4 to save money, but it looks so unattractive to me. If it didn't have a BMW badge I would think the Z4 was a Kia or Hyundai.

Yes, saw that article as well. Also heard that the 2 series convertible is also getting canned.

Iím totally not surprised. They discontinued a beautiful car design that had stood the test of time in the 6-Series, and replaced it with something rather bland and derivative to most eyes. I am looking forward to the M8 Gran Coupe though, and could see myself buying one eventually if the specs are right.

Not surprised at all. The Styling and Size to Value is NOT worth it over a 6 Series.
