I had the vented seats on my '06 Infiniti M35x. A couple of things I noticed: first, the seat heater did not work as well (may have been a specific design issue though) and second, it felt *strange* when I used it

The g37x has ventilated seats? That's news to me. I own both a 2008 335i and a 2010 G37x and anyone who says they buy a 3er for luxury and comfort are out of their mind.

Yes, the 335i sport seats are really comfortable but the ride in a sport is nothing you would be reminded of for a luxury ride. The interior is a bit bland by any standards. Hence the purchase of 'the' family 'sports' sedan for the sportiness of the car.

The G37x is a great value. Even better if it had ventilated seats, but I don't think the one I got has it. The interior surfaces are much softer, luxurious and soothing. (wifes car) it's still got plenty of pickup but by no means is it as stiff or as sporty as a BMW. 7 gears in the G37x is friggin annoying too. Who needs that many gears with a notchy automatic tranny?

To the OP, get a G and save your money. G>328 any day. Flame suit on.

My previous cars are a 993, Mini JCW, and an Evo X. As far as I'm concerned, my sport pack 335d is the lap of luxury.

From those cars I could definitely see why you consider it a luxury ride.

The Infiniti G series does not have ventilated seats. The M series does, however. Ventilated seats are liked heat seats - they're great when well done, but not a big deal when done poorly. I never thought I cared about seat heaters, for example, because the ones in my Acura never really got very warm. The toasty heaters in my E91 are great (not so much for cold days, but for those nights when my back is really tight from sitting at the computer too long).

In cars with good seat coolers, its a real nicety. And, it would probably be especially nice in the BMW seats, which seem to totally suck you in. I don't have sport seats, and I figured the open back without big side bolsters would help my back breath. But, those seats get hot and sweaty quick.

Ventilated seats and a backup camera are about the only gizmos they BMW doesn't have that I'd really like.

But, a deal breaker? Hardly. For the same $ than I forked out for a E91, I could have easily bought several vehicles that had those features.

My last car had ventilated seats, and that is the one feature I probably miss most since getting my BMW (with light grey interior btw). Those seats were appreciated even though it never gets very hot/humid here.

I didn't always use the ventilation (since the fans could get noisy) but the biggest benefit was that the leather was perforated, which allowed the seats to "breathe".

Hmm... perforated leather would be a nice 'low-tech' option!

Where did you see that the new X3 will have ventilated seats?

Every time I think about getting the 335xi instead of the new X3 I hear great things like this.

Stop being such a bunch of elitist. You all want frikin better cupholders that have nothing to do with driving comfort, but heaven forbid someone brings up something that makes a cross country or long drive more comfortable. Sheesh

I had a Lincoln LS with ventilated seats prior to getting my 3 with the sport seats. the vetilated seats were nice and a definite plus in Florida. My 3 seats are beige and don't seem to soak up the sun like a black or red seat. I've found they cool off as the car cools off and no sweaty backside. So I am not missing the ventilated seats that much. :The BMW sport seats are much more comfortable than the LS seats.

The red seats in my Roadster are very hot! I don't drive it in Florida summer except at night or when it's overcast. Right now, we have beautiful Roadster weather in Florida. I drive the 3 in the summer heat. If I lived North of the Mason Dixon line, the reverse would be true. I would park the Roadster when the snow flies and get it back out in the Spring. I don't think ventilated seats would be of much use to folks in the North except for an occaisional hot day or week.

I don't see ventilated seats as an option in the new X3. They are available in the new 5, 7, and X5. I never saw them as an option in the G37 either. They are available on the M35 and up. Since BMW is not offerring them as an option on the new X3 series, I doubt they will go there on the new 3. If you want a car the size of a 3 with ventilated seats, looks like I350, I250, CTS, is the only route for now.

I think softer leather on the seats will be much more helpful than ventilated seats.

The G does have ventilated seats IF you get the special edition package. It is rare, but you can get it. That's the only way to get ventilated seats in a G. The special edition package also includes red seats only.

The G has a MUCH smoother ride than any 3 series I can tell you guys that. The 3 does handle better though.

Sigh... this is why the 3 just keeps getting bigger and less amusing to drive.

Leather was hot & sticky in the summer and VW actually makes some kick ass bun warmers (then again, they're electrical and from VW so they'll fail soon). The base sport seats for the US market are fine with me. And you must respect the retro plaid. $0.02

Well the OP is in Phoenix. As someone in another hot climate (South Florida), I can definitely relate. I love my 335i, but during summer, even with the AC on full blast, the back of my shirt is a sweaty mess after a 30 minute commute. I've decided ventilated seats are a requirement for my next car as well, although I don't think I will go the Infiniti route. I'll most likely move up to the 5 series as I can use the additional space anyway.

HUD is making it into the 3er, you 'enthusiasts' have an option, order a stripper 3er. You all are the minority. Most of us want all the cool daddy techno-gadgetry so we can tell the neighbors or strangers...

Nobody is impressed by a BMW.

And Porsche's only sedan is a wee bit large. So when looking for a sport sedan with RWD that isn't massive the option is a BMW 3 series. That's where the options end as nobody else even bothers to make a decently sized RWD sport sedan with a manual. Nobody. Not Infiniti, not Lexus, not Mercedes. It's a market of one car and even that car is getting quite pudgy. forget about finding a compact RWD sedan like the e30 or e36. Sigh...

i also would welcome this option. i didn't have it on my BMW nor the current car but sure wish I did. Just this Sat, I drove to yet another wedding and my dress shirt was damp w/ sweat.

An option like this and heated seats are hit or miss. My father has both on his '08 Lexus E330 and never uses either. I seldom use the heated seat option but my wife loves it.

the only options i really care about in a car are...
- vent seats
- manual trans
- folding rear seats
- bluetooth phone capability.

I guess none of you guys have ever had a really cute girl with a short skirt in your car on a really hot day. How do you think she will feel about ventilated seats and furthermore hot leather on skin produces much.... well you know! Ill let you all ponder that bit for a few minutes....

Stop being so selfish think about your ladies....
