Factory tours back on?

Any confirmation on if the factory tours are back on? It was posted in another thread but the website still says otherwise.

Seriously? I was there in February and no tours. Same for my last delivery back in May '14.

Can confirm factory tour is still done for performance center deliveries. Public tours won't be back till 2018, Feb-Mar I think because of X7.

Received walking factory tour on 12/1. Everyone was told to leave their cellphone behind. Inside the plant, employees were talking on their cell phones. My guess is BMW didn’t want any photos leaked of a camouflaged mule that was on the factory floor. Geez, I wonder which X model that was?

My understanding is the tour is now of the X3/X4 production hall? Leaving cell phones behind/turned off is standard procedure, apparently BMW claims that the radio frequency can affect the robots and shut down production- that's what they told me in Regensburg a few years ago on the tour.

Factory tours back on?

Had my 7th PCD this week, factory tour is of Hall 52 (X3/X4) as Hall 51 is closed for tours. BMW Manufacturing Plant Spartanburg has a new president who feels that BMW owners are entitled to a factory tour as Hall 51 is closed to the general public. However, the Hall 51 factory tour is more in depth. With expected new G02 (X4) this spring would expect Hall 52 to be closed in the near future. BTW, new X7 has its own factory, Hall 32.

I picked up my wife's new X5 35d on Tuesday, and we got the factory tour. As Ibiza noted, the new president thinks that BMW customers are entitled to the tour, and we surely got it. Have to admit, it was the one part to which my wife was not looking forward, and she (and I) loved it. Absolutely fascinating.

But YES, you get the tour!

Did factory tour on 2/6.
X3,X5 and X6 production line.
Having done the factory tour in Munich, i though this was slightly less extensive. We started at the sheet metal in Munich while here it was the frame coming out of paint.

Agreed Eksath. The SC tour was a bit underwhelming compared to those in Germany. It also seems the German factories have less employees running around and more working on the line. And I mean WORKING.

Wouldn't it make sense that the lines in SC are more automated?

I think the plants in Regensburg and Leipzig where I visited were more modern. They seemed to have more robots and got by with fewer workers.
