Part-time rough idle

Got a 2003 530i 3.0L that has the proverbial rough idle problem. I used a smoke machine to fix a couple of vacuum leaks and can't find anymore. I changed the spark plugs and coil packs with no change in the rough idle which happens about half the time. No check engine codes active.
Any ideas?

Monitor the short term fuel trim numbers to see if there is a correlation with the rough idle. Report back.

Look at this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/zr11-o...abs-63807.html

It could also be a failing fuel pump. Monitor the fuel pressure via the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Tape the fuel pressure gauge to the w/s or wiper arm.

Just throw in my own little observation. I only have a Creator C110 reader and the only codes I have are o2 sensors, those codes have been there for a while.
Lately the car idles a bit rough on start-up, rpm is where its always been though. Moving the gear selector to P normalizes the idle, maybe this is normal, not really sure but yesterday it happened twice that the car just died while I was putting the seatbelt on, think the gear was in D with the foot on the brake.
Otherwise car drives just fine.

Watched the fuel trim on the drive on to work this morning. Short term fuel trim migrates between about 3% and 9%. Can't really see a big difference when it idles rough or runs smooth. Haven't checked the fuel pressure, yet.
