Car is half dead after carwash.

I need help guys. I had my 550i detailed and apparently the guys blasted water into the engine bay and now the car no longer starts and I cannot even open the trunk. The car lights up and I hear a click when I try to start it, but it never starts. What could have possibly gone wrong? HELP......

This should also be fixed or at least paid for by them.

Did you want an engine bay cleaning? If it was a regular wash it would take a lot to get water in there.

I just wanted the engine bay cleaned, and they said they know how to clean BMW engines.......apparently not.

I am getting a Starter/Ignition Malfunction. Could the starter itself have gone bad?

Something electrical got wet. This is kind of a common issue when cleaning the engine bay and either high pressure wash or an uncovered electrical connector gets exposed to water. When things dry out...the car will probably start.

But until then and you need to get into the trunk...apply power to the dedicated jump start terminals in the engine bay (either a battery maintainer, battery charger, or jumper cables hooked up to a donor car)...once connected to a power source, you should be able to open the trunk with the remote, or with the interior trunk release button.

To see how common it is...just copy & paste the following phrase into a google search box: bmw cleaned engine car won't start

They should've washed it with the engine on and with a low pressure hose. But like you said they don't know what they are doing.

After it dries it should start. They should've blasted air into the engine bay to help it dry also.

Let it dry out, you'll be fine.

And has it dried out and is now working fine?

A little closure would be nice.

Ouch - sorry to hear this.

I usually get my engine bay detailed with the rest of the car once a year - but here in So.Cal it's usually just wiping off dust with a damp rag, then rubbing some ArmorAll on the plastic engine cover. Usually looks great.

I wouldn't let anyone at my engine with a garden hose, let alone a pressure washer!

Attached are images after the last detail earlier this year on my 2014 with 40K on it.
