Other than prices, I'm not seeing any changes since MY 2014 LCI. I thought 2017 was bringing the next generation with hybrid power train, wheel vents, new frame and no mo v8. Is that now 2018 or what?

It looks like the G30 5 Series will come first, and then a GT version (if it is continue) after that. So far I have not see any spy shots of a new 5 GT and BMW continuing the GT for another Model Year while not offering the 5 Series Sedan is telling.

I'm not sure I parsed your statement right. I think you are saying The MY 2017 5 series GT remains an F07 while the MY 2017 5 series sedan is a G model?

Anyone recall if the f10 was in market for a year before the F07?

Correct. 2016 F10 5 Series are being produced until October 2016 at which point the next gen G30 5 Series will begin production. I believe the F07 5 Series GT came out before the F10 5 Series by about 6 months. This time around the Sedan is coming first.

Wasn't the F07 based more upon the 7 series at the time?

Of course, that may lead to the same conclusion given the new 7er was released last year.

Yes, the current F07 is based on the short wheelbase 7-series (now replaced with the new 7-series) and built in that factory verses where the other 5-series vehicles are built. They've said, though, that the next 5-series GT will be on the new 5-series chassis (which is modular, so could still have some significant variation from the sedan), and not a derivative of the new 7-series. When it arrives, don't know.

5 series, Gran Turismo VIN question

I'min the market for a Gran Turismo. Sold the boat and trailer, don't need the big PU any more! When I look up the VIN on bimmercat.com decoder, I find everyting on the car I am looking at but some of the descriptions, such as Decoding, variable light distribution, or, Blow-by heater, are a bit cryptic. Any iden where i can find what all of the different items really mean?
Bob

Welcome to the club! I've never seen a list like that but that's not to say it doesn't exist. I'm thinking if you post the list, the group could take a whack at it. By There's also the 5 series sedan forum since the models share many common features even though the GT is based on the 7 series short.
