2021 4-Series Redesign Grille

Has anyone seen the spy pics of the new 2021 4-series? Does anybody like the grill?

Hate it. One of the several reasons I got a went from e70 X5 to a g30 5 series. The styling on the new X5 is just meh in the back, awful in the front and the size of the grille has a lot to do with it. Very subjective matter but no one spends $80k on a car if they can’t stand to look at it.

Years ago, the styling and design philosophy of BMW was very much German. No cup holders? You can't drive on the narrow streets of some German cities or the Autobahn at 120 mph while sipping coffee.

Now, BMW sales in the People's Republic of China and the United States combined are more than triple that of German. The bling elements are more popular in those countries. Just wait until we have all touchscreens (wipers, lights, AC, etc.) and lots of chrome and BIG grilles.

Look at Mercedes. Used to have a small hood ornament. Now there's a huge 3 pointed star in the middle of the grill. Look at ME! I have a MERCEDES BENZ!

So glad I have my 2014 435i convertible. I think the design is just gorgeous! I’ll keep it running forever. I love driving it, especially topless.

That new grill... ugh. Looks like a kid with buck teeth.

Not a huge (pardon the pun) fan of this new look for the 4.

Its not just the size...its the design! BMW needs a new designer...one with taste.

It is true that BMWs sales have been increasing (slightly). But that has been before this new grill appeared on BMWs. I, for one, could not buy/drive that car.

Some of the F3x owners are adding the more solid G2x-style grills to their cars - available on eBay, Amazon, Aliexpress. Different strokes...

The above grill is beautiful.

The new BMW design in the OP links, not so much. It's closer to when Audi switched to their waterfall grill.

I'm holding off judgment until I see the car in person.

From the pictures floating around I'm pretty neutral on the new design. While I don't like the huge grill with a chrome or metallic trim, I think if they offer one which is blacked out like they have in the past, it wouldn't be too bad.

The new X7, 7 series, and to a lesser extent the X5 are not improved with the new grill design, IMO. I can't imagine what focus group saw those and liked them. It must be a Chinese market influence which just doesn't resonate well here.

That concept image reminds me of a squinty beaver or naked mole rat.

Maybe they gave us a nasty grille as a distraction to the lack of manual transmission in what is supposed to be a car that is all about driving pleasure.

This is how the BMW product meeting went:
Gerhart from product: Ach so, vee vill get hate bekoz kein drei pedals. Wir mussen give a distraction, oder.
Gisela from design: Ach Ja. Ich have an idea. Grosse grille!
Gerhart: Sold!

Worst thing ever! I almost got hit when I first saw the newer 7 series / X7. I was crossing the street, saw it and froze in disgust like a deer in headlights!! The new 4 series spy shots are about 2x the size of those, wow

Sales of MT F30’s was about 3% of total volume. What does that say about customer preference?

If you look closely the grill is correctly proportioned and sized for the car. The new grill makes me think of those early 1950's chromed beauties on some GM cars.
