Ghost in the Radio

2008 535i 149k miles

My radio is acting as if I am touching the numbers across the head unit. You know how you can lay your finger on one of the numbers and it will display the current memory? It is so annoying.
It is not the same number and it does it completely random. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Does anyone know of a way to disable it or fix it?

Yeah, I experienced that on my current 2010 E60 that I bought last year. It was driving me crazy, so I replaced the panel which solved the problem.

Which panel did you replace? do you have a part number and where you bought it?

Was it causing you BMW to wake up and drain the battery? Im also experiencing battery drain and was thinking the two were related.

It's the front trim panel, P/N 65839206068. Costs about $145 or so. I bought mine from The BMW Parts Store online. Here's the link: https://www.thebmwminipartstore.com/...99-65839206068

It's possible it was related to battery problems I had. The car's service records showed that it had gotten a new battery about a year before I bought it, but the battery never would hold a charge. I later discovered, while using my scanning tool, that the battery hadn't been registered in the car's computer, so the charging system was probably never charging the battery correctly. Hard to say what ruined that battery - there were several probable causes from neglect by the prior knuckle-dragging owner - but once I put a new battery in it and registered it I've had no electrical problems of any kind.

Read the title, and I've been humming Police songs all day.

So....thank you! Nothing wrong with that.
