Fuel Pump Malfunction - EKP Module Replacement

So I've been getting this the past 3 weeks. I'll be driving the car or just idle and it shuts off after the warning pops up. Sometimes it happens once per day sometimes it happens after 4 days then not again for 3 days. Anyhow whenever it happens if I let the car sit for 5 to 20 minutes it will cut back on.

My father in law has changed both the low and high-pressure fuel pumps, and some sensor in the front of the car (I forget the name). I just ordered a used EKP module from eBay (he wanted me to get a new one but I couldn't pass up the cost $55.00 compared to $360.00 online.

He stated that when the car shuts off the EKP module is no longer sending signals to the fuel pump losing power which in turn causes the car to shut off (He has his own shop for 20+ years up until 2005. He thinks this def should solve the issue. Questions are:

1) Can I just plug-n-play a different EKP module in (new or used)? The used one I got is from a 535i.

2) Do you think this will solve the issue?

My car is 2010 535ix with 139k on it. Everything else is fine in the car (besides needing a rear axle seal done). I can't keep driving this thing with the risk of it shutting off but I an avoiding taking it to an independent shop and really have to pay to get it fixed.

If there is anything you can post here I can relay to him to better help him if it that would be great.
